On the planet Colossopolis, Scott is captured by a giant and forced to do battle in the Maze of Danger against the Foes of Five. Scott has little trouble fighting off the varyingly armed and skilled enemies. The strange giant starts throwing a tantrum, but calms down when his mother arrives to console him.
In a more serous part of the universe, the sinister Mr. Gashe goads Barda into violent action. In her grief, she tries to call Scott at the JLI mansion. Unfortunately, the Miracle-android has no knowledge of Scott's secret identity (only his marriage) and behaves as though he has no idea what Mrs. Free is talking about. Gashe leaves a bomb with Barda and suggest that the only course of action is a violent one.
