Mercury possess liquid metal skin and can turn his fingers into blade-like claws.

As a synthetic creation of Cerebro, Mercury was a combination of mutants Colossus and Wolverine.

Mercury is first seen in Aqaba, Jordan, where he is in the middle of a conversation with a Jordanian tycoon concerning a job in which Mercury is not interested in, insisting that he is a mercenary and not a terrorist. The conversation is interrupted by Professor Charles Xavier as he is in the midst of forming Cerebro's X-Men.

Aboard the Titania, Shadowcat, Nightcrawler and Colossus are on a cruise ship, leaving Muir Island and Excalibur. Mercury and the rest of Cerebro's X-Men disrupt the voyage and kidnap Shadowcat to eventually meet with the alive form of Cerebro, impersonating Professor X. It is then revealed to Shadowcat that Cerebro's X-Men have also kidnapped Dr. Peter Corbeau. Dr. Corbeau knew about, and had plans to destroy the Benassi Rocket, a military rocket set to track down and destroy mutantkind. Cerebro, with the aid of Cerebro's X-Men wanted to prevent Dr. Corbeau from reaching the X-Men, so that he can take care of it on his own. Eventually the X-Men have succeeded in defeating Cerebro's X-Men and ruin Cerebro's plans.

Malleable Bio-Mercury Form: composed of a non-toxic liquid mercury. His ability to shape shift extends to the most basic of rudimentary weapons.

    • Self-Sustenance: Does not need food, for sustenance, and doesn't need to breath.
    • Telepathic Resistance
    • Molecular Adhesion: gives him the ability to cling to solid surfaces and move his body at will even without overt locomotive features.
    • Enhanced Durability: skin, bone and muscle transformed into liquid mercury to make it stronger and harder than human; impervious to injury to a certain extent.
    • Magical Resistance: very hard to magically detect, influence, or harm.
