Depends who's films out. But generally I'd go with Supes and Bats, the latter being more popular.

Th poster asked what would be popular with kids right now, toys, Halloween costumes etc. People are fickle, memories short, and kids jump from trend to trend. First off would be whatever they are most exposed to right now, then maybe the old standbys. So right now, probably iron man, superman, and wolverine would be the best bets. Maybe followed by the most current cartoons, but I'd bet the movies by far. tdkr was a year ago, you know how long ago that was in trend time? Be objective, or wait till your favs come out with a new movie then post again, so they can be on the top of the list

I like Superman and all but people who think he's easily the most popular or will always be the most popular befuddle me (befuddle's an awesome word btw), this isn't 1955 Superman isn't the clear most popular hero. The last time you could say he was would probably be the 80's. Since then Batman and Spider-Man have clearly eclipsed him, while Wolverine and Iron Man have gotten really close. People confuse him being the most famous and iconic with popularity, sad but true but I actually know more people that dislike or are indifferent towards him than people who like him.

Ask someone to name a superhero and they'll say Superman

Ask someone to name their favorite superhero and in my experience most will say Batman or Spider-Man more times than they say Superman.

@jack_donaghy: Very true. I think people are mistaking being known with being popular. Superman is the most well known hero, but hasn't been the most popular for a while now.

Batman has been top dog for awhile now. No one ever fears Superman overshadowing books as much as they fear Batman.

Batman makes other characters fans bitter about how popular, iconic, and loved he is. Batman even makes Superman fans bitter.

Superman is a super close 2nd tho, Spiderman fans want to be 2nd but Webhead is actually 3rd. then Hulk, Wonder Woman, Flash, Wolverine,fighting for 4th and so on...

This thread was made when all kids were thinking and dressing up as we're The Avengers... So I'd assume why people thought otherwise :P

Ironman isn't as popular as the Flash imo, some of the Justice League members are getting low balled in this thread.

No way is Ironman more popular than Flash, or Wonder Woman, outside of America. I'd even debate he's as popular inside.

Right now? Iron Man. I saw more kids dressed up like Iron Man this year than all of the other heroes combined.

He has three movies (the last of which grossed a billion dollar), as well an appearance in another billion-dollar movie. He seems pretty popular to me.

The logic in this thread confuses me.

Iron Man is apparently more popular than Superman, but Hulk is the most popular Avenger.

And yet, both of Hulk's movies had mediocre box offices, while MoS had a pretty good one. And Superman's comic sales pretty much destroy both Hulk and Iron Man's. And the JLA comic out sells any one of the Avengers.

And not once has anyone provided any credible evidence to support their argument.

Yes but being well known and popular aren't the same thing.

Also I don't think Iron Man is as popular in America as Batman, domestically IM3 made about $409 million and TDKR made $448 with no 3D and the shooting. Plus Batman had the 2nd most popular Halloween costume this year (after a witch) with 2.9 million costumes sold despite him not having a movie out this year like Iron Man. You could argue worldwide since Iron Man's movies have made more $ there but not in America.

And there are others who are claiming...that this or that character is the most popular now its elogical. Because most of them are probably just denying the obvious

Popular and well known is not the same. Perhaps many knows about WW but she isn't popular outside of comics.

• Batman - Still rolling after his movies
• Spider-man - His fifth movie within less than 15 years that is impressive.
• Iron man - People want more Robert Downey Jr.
• Superman - Getting some momentum
• Wolverine - not as cool as he used to be (but still pretty cool).
• Thor - Second movie is doing ok.
• Green Arrow - That TV show is doing a lot of great things.
• Turtles - It is not the late 80's/early 90's but it is pretty close. TV show rolling and a movie coming up.

Superman is the most known hero. Batman is currently the most popular. Younger people think he's cooler which is fair enough. Same with Spidey and Iron man. The latter currently more popular due to his own films and Avengers.

Batman and Spidey by a mile over everyonelse. Supes maybe more known than both but that doesn't equate to popularity. Batman and Spidey both sell more comics, toys, games, movies and tv shows. Supes hasn't been that popular in a long time.

As of right now I think it's Batman. The Dark Knight movies really raised his profile.
