Who is more iconic The Joker or Wolverine
I think it would be the Joker since he is most known with Batman. Batman being one of the top 3 DC heroes,. would make him more known. I do think Hugh Jackman has made Wolverine much more known recently though.
They're probably neck-and-neck among comic enthusiasts, but the Joker is more of a "household name" in the wider public I reckon.
Perhaps on a comic site, most would say Joker. But when I was a kid, most of my friends and I would always get in trouble with our moms for putting the table knives and other utensils between our knuckles all the time.
Joker may be Batman's archenemy, but he's only one of his many rogues. He doesn't appear nearly as often in any media as a main hero like Wolverine.

Kid's aren't always the best measuring stick of what is iconic for popular culture.
@spambot: They are when they're now all grown up and have influenced other kids along the way and so on and so forth.
If you want another measuring stick, let's use merchandise. Wolverine is slapped front and center on most X-Men stuff, let alone the ones that feature only him. Joker's gotten a bit more popular recently, but he's nowhere close in terms of merch.

The difference is as you get older you get a different perspective on things that isn't so driven by things like cartoons. Merchandising is the same way. Its something that mostly involves children. Granted we are talking about a genre that is largely young people driven but you also have to factor history into things. Current popularity is not the overriding factor when debating something like this.
@spambot: So what's your more valid measuring stick then?

History of the character, impact on culture over the decades, how much it resonates with people after they grow up, etc. Some characters become very popular for 10-15 years but then become forgotten without making much of an impact on their genre. Wolverine is iconic but just not on the same level as the Joker imo. Not that I think there is a truly right or wrong answer here but I think the Joker's long history as one of the most recognizable villains in any medium kind of speaks for itself.
@spambot: Well, with regards to character history, as I've implied in my first post, much of what makes these two great is, unfortunately, a niche thing, so my basis goes mostly to mass appeal which of course leads to cultural impact.
I'm pretty sure there's still a good number of people today that put metal stuff between their knuckles and add "bub" to the end of sentences, but I'm not gonna deny the instant connection people make when taking out a set of playing cards, and of course "Why so serious?" has become quite the phenomenon.
Eh, I'll give that Joker probably leaves more of an impression, but Wolverine definitely has more reach.
@gunmetalgrey: Also on the few occasions I look around on Pinterest there's generally 5 characters I see way more of than any others: Batman, Joker, Jean Grey/Phoenix, Supes and WW almost in that order.

I've noticed that Harley Quinn, Beast, & Namor have a strong presence on Pinterest as well.
Wolverine is more iconic
It doesn't matter that Joker has been around for longer...Joker is just based on the Jekyll-Hyde relationship
Wolverine is more unique
I think some of Deathstroke's attributes come from Wolverine
@thehulksmash: I can't feel if your joking or being serious everyone knows who the joker is he is the most iconic joker of all time
