Ferguson riots after unarmed young black man shot dead by cops-you can only push a community so far!

Well, I am very wary about mass riot and the like, usually, it begin like this :

Seriously, most of the time, it begin due to something unrelated to the "main event" and it solve nothing. I can understand the rage, but it only go so far and I'm sad because it will only cause more tension between the different community.

Damn ! We don't even know if there was an inquiry, or if the cops involved were arrested or freed from the charges !

White people shoot white people, black people shoot black people, whites shoot black people, and black people shoot whites.

An investigation of the event hasn't even been completed and details about the event are scarce. Yet people are rioting in the streets.

The feels are too great.

This has nothing to do with conservative or liberal, just common sense. If something happens with certain minorities or cops in general, riots only lead to further chaos. Cause seriously, what good has come of it? More people getting hurt? More death?

People act like savages these days to get a point across, yeah...see what that does for you. I think some people these days forget all about civilized action, protests. Man if aliens did visit Earth they see humans like this and be like "yeah, such a primitive species time to move on."

oh this thread is about the horrible looters. that small band of ignorant souls acting as if their team just won a championship. yea I completely agree, f**k them. they're a**holes getting the focus when something larger and more significant to society is happening. I mean yea protestors are helping stopping them but they shouldn't be doing it anyway. maybe that's human but COULD just be black.

I thought it was the immediate show of force shown by the officers against the protestors.

This is pretty much my opinion on the matter. We had what was branded as a race riot in my hometown a few years back, and hardly anyone involved in the events was politically minded in any way. They saw a chance for some "fun", and they took it.

Why is the entire city a "bunch of nuts" because of a certain group of people are committing bad actions. The idea of not generalizing should really not be all that hard, and I don't know why you say "supposedly" when referring to the 18 year old that got killed. It's been confirmed he wasn't armed.

Because it cats light on the rapidly increasing instances of violence and injustice specifically as it pertains to young black men. Furthermore, I, and a great deal of my contemporaries, tend to be of the midnset that if Michael had done anything totally illegal or he was certifiably culperable in anyway, that the Ferguson PD , Mayor, police chief--somebody would have come out by now and laid out what happened to absolve themselves of guilt much in the same way they did in New York with the black man that was murdered by police and in the Trayvon Martin case. Also, no one is condoning rioting. What we're condoning is the exercising of first amendment righst to assemble peacebly. Which by all accounts is what has been occuring with the exception of the looting taht took place a few nights ago.

No one is condoning the looting at this point. Any rational human being agrees that what took place on Sunday night was abhorrent. the issue is that the focus continues to be on that minority of people that took advantage of a bad situation rather than the abuse of power by police in these instances. Lastnight was a perfect example of a peaceful protest and a complete abuse of power by police.

Oh of course, I simply felt that since that one aspect of the situation was one I had experience of, that was what I should address :) Don't like to comment on things I know nothing about, and no offence intended (if indeed there is any) :)

I understand their anger by riots isn't the way to go about this. More people have been shot during riots and protests. Peaceful protest is what is needed. Perhaps if they see us treating ourselves with respect they will start to treat us with more respect too. Violence only makes it worse.

None taken. This just hits home from me because i went to school in this area at one point, I have cousins and an uncle living i the area, and I frequented the area as a young kid. I just wantthewhole storyto be told and discussed so we, as a nation, can come away from this experience better.

I'm just going to bring up the fact the last night there was a peaceful protest where none of the protesters where acting violently or aggressively towards the police officers. Those same officers already equipped in riot gear tried to make every reporter shut off there cameras some thankfully did not. The cops didn't want witnesses to the fact that they planed to fire tear gas into a crowd of non violent protesters and fire rubber bullets at all of the protesters.

Obviously I do not approve of vandalism an looting, but these were peaceful protesters that had tear gas thrown/fired at them as well as rubber bullets. Regardless of how you feel in terms of thinking about the actual shooting of the teenager, these cops in riot gear attacked these protesters without violent provocation and were clearly planing to use some sort of force against the protesters early on since they tried to silence all of the reporters by having them shut down their camera's so there would not be documentation of them preemptively attacking the protesters without provocation.

In terms of rioting and looting that is not the right way to go about protesting or showing anger at the establishment. Yet I can understand how the people in that area may feel extremely frustrated agitated and quite frankly completely pissed off at the extreme lack of justice they are dealing with. People are pissed off with the cops in that place and rightly so, reacting violently is not is not the correct approach but is completely understandable to me. Not saying I condone it just that I can relate to how they are probably feeling.
