Some R&R is much needed
Drama stirs up in Peter's life after the aftermath with the Chameleons.
Pros:
A stand alone issue is just what was needed after the long 6 part Tainted Love. Everyone is still trying to get over the damage the Chameleons' have caused. So yes, there is teenage drama in this issue, but Bendis keeps it simple. There are a couple of parts that surprised me such as the conversation between MJ and Gwen, and what Jameson did for Peter. This issue is not all drama though, as there's also some humorous moments with Bombshell, the swearing teenage villain that paired up with her mother, who is now attending Peter's school. While Peter intentions are well, that doesn't settle well with Pete's other friends with MJ and Gwen getting upset, while Bobby says "Every girl. Dude gets every girl."
Cons:
Sarah Pichelli is taking over David Lafuente's art duties starting with this issue while he does the covers, and while Pichelli's style is a bit different from Lafuente's work, Pichelli's artwork makes most of the characters appear younger than what they really are, Peter and Mary Jane mostly. But that's not to say the rest of the issue is bad, it actually holds up pretty well. I'm still getting adjusted to her work, but I'm sure it will grow on me in time.
Overall: I didn't expect this issue to fix everything that went wrong in Peter's life. That might take a while. This issue was a much needed break after the Tainted Love story. Ultimate Comics Spider man will be renumbered as 150, and I'm really looking forward to the issue.
