Victims find themselves in danger, heroes put themselves there

This is the first time that I have ever read an issue with Amethyst in it, and as a Zero Month origin issue it is therefore probably a good place to start.  I am familiar enough with the background of the character, but even with that limited exposure I still feel like this update was pretty good.  After all I am pretty sure that the first series didn't jump right into such heavy issues from the beginning such as rape and bullying.  Perhaps this is just being used to establish the main characters as one of both morals and the actions to back them up, but by the time she gets to Gemworld she does not appear to be a victim at all, even if she is a little lost in the unexpected developments.  DC seems to have been trying to better incorporate in some female heroines into their main titles recently and if this is any indication they seem to be succeeding.  I wasn't sure if I might keep reading this series past the zero issue, but I am sure now.

Talon could go either way, being really good or really bad. Sword of Sorcery, however, piqued my interest, especially conside...

Recommendation: YES!Much like All-Star Western and Creator-Owned Heroes, Sword Of Sorcery offers two stories in one book. This is a wonderful model. Most books cost $3.99 now, so two stories for that one price makes it a great value. This is especially the case when both stories are well worth reading - and, as you have seen from my rating, both stories are, in fact, worth reading.I didn’t have any background on the Amethyst character… but of course, we all have some knowledge of the Beowulf stor...
