    Hulk vs. an evil Trekkie

So we start with Bruce Banner, still on the run from the military, making his way to his old college thinking that he can find some sort of cure his Hulk problem. He finds a man named Geoffrey Crawford, one of his favorite professors. Bruce believes that his Hulk problem is better solved if he has a little help and Crawford is a brilliant physicist and someone he trusts. Crawford is happy to see him but Bruce is surprised to see that the man is now wheelchair bound do to deteriorating health. Crawford is more than happy to help a former student and wants to show Bruce his latest project. Apparently this guy has invented a teleportation machine, Awesome. Why did he invent this machine that could revolutionize modern transportation as well as benefit humanity in countless other ways? He's a big Star Trek fan. Wow, I hereby proclaim this character to be the ultimate Trekkie. Crawford gets an idea that he can cure Bruce using his teleporter. I guess by using multi-modal reflection sorting he can filter out Bruce's gamma mutations in mid transportation. But during a scan of Bruce, Crawford realizes that being the Hulk has effectively made Bruce the healthiest man on earth. Later that night, Crawford tries the process in reverse, I.E. turn himself into the hulk, in order to rid himself of his disease. Bruce tries to stop him but it's too late. Bruce starts to get angry and turns into the Hulk. Little something that's always bugged me about the hulk, his pants are always purple even when Banner's pants were not. Yeah there's iconography to consider, but after a while your suspension of disbelief start to wear thin. Anyways, Crawford emerges from the telepod all hulked out but for some reason his intelligence is still intact. He renames himself Ravage and starts wailing on the Hulk, all while acting more that a little power mad. the two have a pretty decent brawl, but ultimately Ravage overpowers and subdues the Hulk to end the issue

    What Works:

This is some fairly decent story telling and Ravage is a pretty good villain for the hulk. The first half of the issue felt like a really good episode of the Incredible Hulk TV series, and I enjoyed the Incredible Hulk TV series.

    What Doesn't:

I think Ravage is a decent villain but his motivations make no sense. Well okay that's not entirely fair, he does wish to cure his illness. But here's the thing, this guy has invented a Star Trek teleporter. Even for comics that's a pretty revolutionary piece of technology and there's no limit to the good he can do for humanity. This invention could probably make him richer than Donald Trump and he can probably use his wealth to find a cure legitimately, I know, comics and all but I just see that as something of a plot hole.

    Overall:

    3/5

So does this one hold up today. Yes, but it's really nothing to sneeze at. It's just a basic story, you'll probably enjoy it but it's nothing that great
