Blood-Tied And Doomed 2

Thor is beaten and returns to Asgard. Tony Stark has nearly completed his work in Odin's armory. Captain America struggles to face a battle that even he feels is already lost. Fear Itself is nearing its conclusion, and it's looking pretty promising that this will end on an epic note.  The Good: I know a lot of people probably haven't been keeping up with Fear Itself quite simply for the fact that they are entirely sick of all of Marvel's tie-ins and big events. I decided to go ahead and jump int...

Send In The Clowns. 0

Deadpool gets framed by an intergalactic mercenary named Macho for a job that he had nothing to do with. Deadpool's been trying his hand at the straight and narrow path lately, but when Macho shows up and challenges Deadpool's abilities as merc... well, old habits die hard.  The Pros This is definitely a well-executed single issue. It doesn't try to squeeze too much in and doesn't concern itself with much outside of the immediate goings-on. It seems after 31 issues, Daniel Way is finally ready t...

Quarantine: Part 3 3

The X-Men on Utopia continue to struggle against a virus targeting their powers and slowly taking their lives. Emma, Kitty and Fantomex continue their secret journey to take care of Sebastian Shaw, as the remaining X-Men outside of Utopia continue their public relations work and come face-to-face with a team of self-made rich kid mutants.  The Pros I haven't been very into this Quarantine arc up until this issue. Everything seems to finally be coming together, with the Sublime Corporation offeri...

I Rule, You Suck. 0

Deadpool's two-part tie-in to the Curse Of The Mutants storyline comes to a close.  The ProsFirst off, the art in this issue is absolutely fantastic. Hats off to Dazo and Mossa, I don't think Marvel's most polarizing anti-hero has ever been drawn better!  The issue picks up after Part One's cliffhanger ending that found Deadpool facing off against some very bloodthirsty vampires in a hospital run by a rival vampire sect. The writing in the issue is sharp, on-point and sometimes even laugh-out-lo...

The New Iron Age 1

Marvel celebrates the 500th issue of The Invincible Iron Man by reverting back to its original numbering and taking a look at Tony Stark's distant future.  The ProsThe decision to use a present story to connect the reader to the future timeline is very effective here, giving the reader both a point of reference for what's happening and a reason to care about new characters who aren't given much introduction.  The decision to jump right into the middle of the future timeline without any back stor...
