X-men #1 Vol.2 circa 1991

I like the cover of X-men #1 vol.2 from Oct 1, 1991. That cover was not only cool but marked a historically moment in the history of the X-men, the very first time they had two adult teams of X-men living at the Manison.  That cover was a pulled cover that contain all the X-men from both teams, it was awesome. It was this issue that turn me onto to drawing comic book heroes..

ONline, store, Comic shop, and subscriptinons

I like to mostly buy my comics from Comic book shops and subscriptions. If Marvel is having a discount on titles I absolutely love, I will buy a subscription to it. Otherwise all the other titles I casually read, I buy at my local comic book shop. I like to keep the little guys in business. The owner practically knows me and gives me discounts and occasionally free stuff.

I buy trade paperbacks from bookstores like Barnes & Noble because they give me a discount while my local shop will usually charge me the regular price. But if Amazon.com has my title of the trade paperback I'm looking for then I buy it there, and take advantage of the huge savings.

The Spectacular Spiderman Cartoon

So I woke up in the morning and when I turn on the TV I saw that the Spectacular Spiderman cartoon was on the TV guide.

Well after watching this new marvel cartoon I have tell you that it is a great cartoon for a new generation of Spiderman fans.

I found many differences compared to the 1994-1998 Spiderman: The animated series. The main difference is that the 90's cartoon was attempting to bring comicbook stories to the TV Screen and was very successful at it.

This new series seems to me a combination of the Ultimate Spiderman series and the story concepts from the movies. For example the origin of Doctor Octapus is very similar to the 2nd movie. Another difference in the movie is that Harry Osborn becomes the first green goblin not Norman Osborn like in the 90's cartoon series originally had. As far as the similarity to the Ultimate Series, the cartoon has all the same characters like the Ultimate series there's Peter Parker, Flash Thompson, Harry Osborn, Mary Jane, LiZ, and Gwen STacy all attending the same High school. Mary Jane in this series is protrayed much like her Ultimate counterpart as a popular level-headed common sense girl.

The series portrays romantic scenes that Peter is a part of like its an 80's teen romance flick. By that I mean there is a scene with Peter on a date with Liz at a theme Park and there is 80's style hard rock music playing in the background.  What I like most about this series is the way the characters are drawn.  Peter Parker in this series is drawn very realistically. Realistically meaning his body mass is very slender and small just like a real life teenage bookworm body is. Peter even looks like a teenager in the face. In the 90's verison Peter's body and face look to much like a 25 yr old grown man, it was hard to convince me he was a book worm, or was even in highschool at the time he was bitten.

Overall this series, is great for a new generation of spiderman fans because of its different storylines that still hold true to the original concept of spiderman, he's a superhero with everyday problems like us.

Most Shocking Moment

For me would have to be several events

Recently,
1. New Avengers #40 where it was revealed at the end that Spiderwoman was replace by a Skrull.
2. Hearing the News about the conclusion of One More Day
3. Death of Captain America. (Long time fan of him since 6 six years old)
4. Batman R.I.P.
5

Past
1. Clone Saga-They Stated Peter Parker was the clone, I knew he was not, made me wanted to stop collecting Spiderman until it was retconn back.

2.Colossus joining Magneto's army in the saga "Fatal Attractions" that move just blew my mind, I was thinking "holy cow, what in the hell is he thinking?" "oh god, why Peter, Never thought it would be him, he's just such a nice guy"

3. When they tried to convince us that the Red Skrull and Captain America were related. Then it was later revealed that they were not, the Red Skrull was just cloned from Captain America.

4. West Coast Avengers disbanding. man Scarlet Witch never looked so damn fine then in the year 1992. With her new skimpy costume.

5. Reed Richards Dead.

6. Psylocke seducing Cyclops and the whole affair.

That's all.

I would have to go with the Ironman Collection

Even though I am not a big Ironman fan or Tony Stark fan, but if were talking about cool costumes than my vote goes to Ironman and War Machine. Those two guys always had cool designs. It was those designs that made me want to read the comics.

Second place would have to go to Wolverine's costume Circa 1992-93, when he wore his gold and blue strip uniform with blue armor shoulder pads, that was freakin awesome.

Third place would have to be Cyclops costume Circa 1992-94. It just looked cool him exposing his hair and the presece of his comlink he wore like a vest on his chest.

For the ladies.
Catwoman's costume Circa 1994 that costume looked hot with her hair exposed and without the goggles she wears now.
Susan Storm Circa 1993 when Reed Richards was thought to be dead, her skimpy costume was hot, but it designed very well so that her tits don't fall out, ( Makes me wonder how Starfire and Blackcat fight crime without anything popping out)lol.

The best costumes today would have to be Fairchild and She-Hulk's body suit, its sexy but at the same its made for fitness. So both ladies can workout in it and look good. If its good enough to work out in, then its good enough to fight crime in.

I know the question asked for one, but I just think there is more than one cool costume.

a lot but not as much as other so it appears

I am currently collecting

Marvel

  1. New Avengers
  2. Mighty Avengers
  3. Wolverine
  4. Ms. Marvel
  5. Uncanny X-men

DC

  1. Titans
  2. JSA
  3. DC/WildStorm Dreamwar

Now I am collecting secret invasion and all the tie-ins,  Final Crisis and the tie-ins and Batman R.I.P and all the tie-ins. Its funny now to collect a saga one needs to get the tie ins besides the main Mini-Series.. Which adds more magazines to my list. I try to have a rule of only collecting no more than 3 team books so that I can remember all the details of the story line.

I would go on a vacation with She-Hulk

The reason I chose She-Hulk to go on Vacation with is because I have alot of common with both her She-Hulk personality and her Jennifer Personality.  With either one I would have a great time with, whether it is sightseeing, hanging out on the beach, dancing at the hottest clubs, or taking a bike ride together. I honestly can picture the two of us hitting the gym and working out with the weights. I could really use her as a spotter.  Not to mention she looks great in a swimsuit and leatard.

Should a writer please readers or himself?

Dear comicbook fans we all have our favorite writers. Writers are creators of fiction just like movie Directors are creators of fiction as well. Is it a good idea for a writer to write a story to please themself or should all writers be pleasing the readers? Also when a writer writes a story pleasing to them only, does the story still sells itself?

A example of this is when Steven Spielbrieg made the movie "The Lost World" and made the movie to entertain people. However in his next movie which was "A.I. Artifical Intelligence" was made only to entertain him and the movie became a flop.

Another example is when Director Joel Schumacher took his own approach to the making the movie of "The Lost Boys" his approach to the movie was entertaining to him but the movie happen to sell well. However he did not have the same success when the movie "Batman and Robin" came out into theaters. The movie was a horrible flop, so horrible that Hollywood was afraid of making another comicbook movie until 2000.

Now there's example where a director made two movies that were both entertaining to him but one was successful and the other was not.

Another example is when Joe Quesada wanted to dissolve the marriage of Peter Parker and Mary Jane and decided to do it in a way that was pleasing for him and an 8 year old audience. But by doing so he angered many older readers and also erase 20 years of continuity.

As a writer ladies and gentlemen I try to write stories that are entertaining to people which includes mostly having suspense, drama, and characters dying. I personally love happy endings but I know that majority of you readers do not share my optiminism so therefore I try to do away with happy endings just to please you readers...

I mean if I had it my way Wolverine would be married to Storm (I know some of you are freaking out right now)
Peter and Mary Jane would still be together
Mary Jane would have her psychology degree.
Prince Namor would be dating Susan Storm
                                              Rogue and Gambit together
The same two team X-men line up from back in 1991-1993.
                                               Dick Grayson married to Starfire
Cyclops and Jean Grey still married to each other.
Iceman and Psycloke married or Iceman and Emma Frost together

As you can see my world would have all kinds of stupid happy stuff that would be probably drive you readers insane. So I don't include those things out of respect for you readers and because its you readers that keep me in business.
