@amazoniespl: star wars isn't impacted by star trek in the same way at all. Science fiction as a genre has existed for a long time in comics, novels, movies and TV. Superheroes as an entire genre exists because of Superman. It's not even close to being the same.

BTW i vote Kirk quite happily. Never been a Trek fan.

@amazoniespl: my point was that exactly. Sci-Fi already existed so Star Wars as a story would still potentially exist (I don't know enough about either to know how much inspiration it was specifically though). However the superhero genre does exist because of Superman. Ergo Kirk's place in history, while still a big deal, wouldn't have had as far reaching an impact. I'd maybe feel differently if I was a trekie but I could easily be happy without it existing. Superheroes on the other hand.... No way.

Hhhmmm... slightly tougher choice for me - I really do love both characters. I'm gonna go with Batman, because along side Superman he helped shape and mold the future of comic books and super heroes in general. Goku - while an awesome and cool and powerful character - just doesn't have the same over-all historical impact if he were to never have existed.
