History
Funny what signing one piece of paper can get you.
In one moment, you're a CIA operative at the top of your game, looking forward to a promotion, a cushy desk job, and a brand-spankin' new raise to bring back home to the wife.
The next, you're being strapped down to a table, pumped full of anesthesia and being told that everything was going to be okay. Waking up in a different body. Waking up with different skin - different feelings. A different thing entirely. Looking in a mirror and seeing not the kind face you used to have, but rather, the cold, hard skin of a cyborg, more metal than man.
Being told that this is for the better. Having your software rebooted and reinstalled a hundred to a thousand times over until you can barely remember what it necessarily was you were so upset about. Saying that you were ok with all of it.
And just like that, you're back working for the government, the same people who made you into what you are.
Or were those guys from the government?
Another mindwipe, and Atomikill was certain that he had even gone as far as to sign up for the government procedure.
Atom has never learned the truth of his existence.
And the chances are, he never will.
Powers and Abilities
His body being designed after the 1950s' grandiose ideas of nuclear energy powering the world, Atom's body is quite simple - humanoid, with obvious, and rather traditional, signs of "robot" - glowing eyes, a mouth that never truly closes, antenna ears. Grooves and bumps, so on and so forth. In these ways, there is simply no way to mistake him for an actual person - and he is indeed, partially human. He has a brain, and a heart. What they do is horrifically minimal, though - but Atom doesn't know this, and thus, protects them with his life.
The suit itself is far more impressive than what the early twentieth century had envisioned. Powered by nuclear energy and made entirely of a painted titanium alloy, the bronze armor is clearly bulletproof, as well as resistant to several other types of damage - heat, cold, blunt, poisons, etc. The strength is inhumane, and things that would take even stronger metahumans the most intense of efforts takes him little more than a thought, going up to hundreds of tons as if they were feathers. Of course, this is just for lifting - striking, he is much softer (yet could still burst through walls of most sort, making quite the heroic displays).
He is not known for being fast. His top running speed is around thirty miles per hour, and though he can hardly go past that, he can maintain that speed until the day he dies, running endlessly. This is true for any activity he does - his stamina is well and truly limitless, and he does not need food, water, or sleep. However, believing that he is a human, in a robotic body, Atom eats, anyways. Atom could most likely get quite proficient at dodging projectiles, but he hardly has reason to.
Atom is lacking in speed, but he makes up for it by having one of the fastest minds in the world, being able to process, remember, and analyze information in a fraction of a fraction of a second. He sees objects moving faster than the speed of light, can notice when a single hair is out of place on a friend, and can do the homework of every school student in New York City at the same time.
While not ultimately built with a lot of gadgets and gizmos, Atom's suit has a couple of tricks - from flight (limited fuel), to different types of vision, to a small stungun installed into his forearm. Each shot from this stungun is the equivalent of a high-powered taser, with the desired effect of knocking an enemy unconscious.
In the unlikely event of enemies, of course. Atom's suit is not designed for combat, and any combat that he may desire would be attainable through future modifications. He has made one development, however - the forearms of his armor can transform into nuclear cannons, firing condensed, atomic energy at those who oppose him. The results are clearly catastrophic, and thus, Atom doesn't use these blasters often, as fully charged shots can level buildings - passing through most manmade materials with ease.
