Which shounen hero got the better anime transformation moment, Son Goku or Gon Freecs?

Son Goku transforming into a Super Saiyan for the first time out of anger to get revenge on Frieza for killing Krillin in Dragon Ball Z Kai

Or

Gon Freecs throwing away the rest of his life, abilities and a promising future by forcing his body to mature so incredibly fast to get one moment of satisfying revenge on a foe who killed his mentor that he couldn't defeat.

Ye, seeing as most other transformations simply ripped off DBZ, it is obvious which one was really better. Animes have been copying DBZ for ages and this is just another no-nname anime (compared to DBZ) copying it once more. Sure, it looks better as it used newer technology, but come on...

It’s impossible for me to vote against Goku’s super saiyan transformation. So iconic. To see Goku get angry like that for the first time was crazy.

Gon’s transformation was good too though.

Goku,honestly did not like Gon transformation and was not as build up as Goku transformation which is more iconic.

Goku's by a good deal. As great as HXH is. Chime's point is right. Goku's is far more more iconic and better when it occured.

Gons transformation came out of nowhere and honestly didn't make any sense to me.

@staticdwanyemcduffie: Look, HxH is cool and all, but it doesn't compare to DBZ in terms of popularity and relevance to the world of fiction. DBZ set the rules by which Shounen animes operate.

TBH, both Characters gave me the HOLY SH*T!!! mouth drop moment. When I was a kid seeing Goku go Super Saiyan was like off the hook. But when I saw little cute Gon transform? All bets were off that was crazy.

I'm going with Gon his transformation was VERY shocking and more Unexpected especially from that little boy whom seemed to lost all form of hope and to see those Soulless eyes and hatred etc was more chilling than Goku's First Transformation.

Goku easily...Krillin was not only killed but at the time there was no way to bring him back...Moreover, Frieza was never going to stop...he was clearly going to earth next regardless of what happened on Namek...and it almost seemed hopeless...

Goku very easily since Hunter X Hunter ain't on same league when comes to iconic moments and Gon's transformation is just bizarre in general.

I don't like the SSJ1 transformation tbh, i'd rather pick SSJ3 Buu saga or Fusion Movie.

And I never said anything about foreshadowing anyway. But there was huge build up through out that arc and you never really knew what to expect or whether it would be anything different since Veget kept claiming ssj everytime he or Goku got stronger.

TBH, they're both super asspulls and I really don't like what they did with bringing Gon back to life. I do like Super Saiyan a bit more just due to it being more iconic at the time, Gon's however was more emotional and handled better. Less fluff in his fight with Pitou.

Gon is a dumbass character. Went way too far. "Oh you killed this guy i've known a month, guess i'll kill myself now."

That said, much more visceral and intimidating than Goku's transformation.

As for overall better. Probably the saiyan transformation, makes more sense, more real emotions and the stakes were bigger.

I realised what he said in the Super saiyan dub i watched was different from what he said when he transformed in the original japanese anime. So does that make it less or more awesome?

If Gon threw his life away how is he still able to get stronger

He basically traded years of his life just to get revenge by getting his body to grow a lot faster. After said moment of revenge, Gon basically ends up being some sort of a conscious corpse (It makes a lot more sense in the show) until a plot device his best friend's younger sibling revived him with said sibling's monkey's paw miracle granting abilities. However, he was never able to use his superhuman abilities again after his transformation, not even in the manga. This was a waste of talent, tbh, since he was seen as to have high potential by many other characters in the show prior to his transformation.

Gon is better, as i only saw the ssj1 when older. So the fact that krilin died nade no impact whatsoever except being funny, u get this when u have a reset button lying around.

Goku's one is billion times better than gon's transformation dude it took Goku a shit ton of beating and after Goku thought that he finally defeat Frieza and saved his friends he wanted to go back to his planet back and live with peace but frieza not just came he also killed Krillin, Goku's very old and best friend Goku's one was by far the best transformation i had ever seen no transformation is going to be better than super saiyan.

Death in dbz has no impact. You can't take it seriously. The super Saiyan was an asspull and lazy transformation. Gon much better..

Goku turning into a Super Saiyan is the best transformation sequence in anime as far as I’m concerned.

The first Ssj transformation is massively overrated. Gon by far.

Even though Gon's transformation was great, SS1 transformation is one of the most iconic moments in television history. It's up there with the Game of Thrones beheading and Who Shot JR as far as iconic television moments.

Goku's SSJ1 transformation is God tier moment in anime.

namek saga in general puts to shame the entire hunter x hunter anime, let alone the most iconic scene

I prefer Gon's transformation

Gokus first ssj transformation still remains my favoraite ever. The stakes and emotion during that moment combined with the build up prior to it was great. HxH is a better manga overall but honestly there are several transformations in DB I found better.
