After finding out Liefeld would be working on the relaunch of Hawk&Dove I went to Google, typed in "rob li" that was as far as I got before this linked popped up as the first hit.

I had to share this because it's one of the funniest things I've read in a while. The author, Hanstock, is now the originator of my new favorite way of describing the being that is Rob Liefeld: "Rob Liefeld is not human, he is a pair of blue jeans with a face, he wears a backwards baseball cap and when he turns it around It's still backwards"
I mean no disrespect to Rob Liefeld, Having followed X-force I'm familiar with his work so if you are a Liefeld fan please take this with a grain of salt. A giant pile of them.

Dude, hes an artist. Artist draw things how they want. Thats why their artist.Dude, I know that. I'm just agreeing with the author that there are some things he doesn't draw well.
I agree artists draw what they want, but even what they want is sometimes hampered by their own ability as an artist.
Liefeld fan here..and yes I do take that grain of salt. Perhaps a lil offended but again, I can hardly fault or slight you for that since everyone is entitled to their own opinion, including the writer of that article.
Maybe I should have stated I'm a fan of Liefeld(mainly x-force minus his writing). Don't be offended please, I know not of the authors intentions but I truly thought people would find this funny. I'll still be picking up Hawk&Dove.Liefeld fan here..and yes I do take that grain of salt. and yet people still buy the comics that he has drawnI was never a fan of his work. Always hated how grisly and disproportionate his art was.

He's not the best artist but he's better than many out there. I don't get why so many people choose to give him a bad name.
I always liked how contorted his characters' bodies were simply standing up or that their facial expressions looked like that of spooky ghosts. If they weren't jumping around with over-sized guns, they had back problems, oddly shaped feet and jerri curls.
@RedheadedAtrocitus said:Haha nah its cool man I totally get what you're saying. Reading upon it I actually do find the humor in it because I joke to others all the time of why there's all the hate for Liefeld. For my part I totally see why many would not like him even though I do enjoy his stuff. I actually have bookmarked that article now because I find it most interesting! No offense my man, I promise you!Maybe I should have stated I'm a fan of Liefeld(mainly x-force minus his writing). I don't know how someone can call themselves an Leifeld fan.Every time he picks up a pencil he spits in the face of people who actually went to school to learn anatomy and are actually capable of drawing it accurately. His work doesn't suck because it's stylized and his proportions are purposely distorted he simply isn't a good artist.I'm not a Simone Bianchi fan but I'm simply not a fan of his style.I have seen his sketches however. His work looks the way it looks because he's actually knowledgeable enough to stylize his work until keep the proportions correctly within his style. With Leifeld..he simply doesn't know how to draw certain things so he hides them with unnecessary accessories, objects and weird poses. In the video where he's asked if he had any formal art training and he says no...it's obvious.
This. At least with people like Bianchi, Ramos, Bachalo etc they have an understanding of anatomy and choose to stylize their art. Liefeld is just a crappy artist, plain and simple. I absolutely refuse to support his books (mostly because I abhor his "art" and can't stand looking at it) and think more people should do the same. There's no reason this man should still be employed, let alone in such high demand. It absolutely baffles me.I don't know how someone can call themselves an Leifeld fan.Every time he picks up a pencil he spits in the face of people who actually went to school to learn anatomy and are actually capable of drawing it accurately.
Ya know what? There are worse artists. He's bad, sure, but it could be worse. Skottie Young, for example.Strongly disagree.

He chooses to stylize his work as opposed to overhatching, drawing distorted figures and covering things up with pouches and enormous guns to hide his lack of anatomical knowledge.

yeah, definitely "ewww"
but also a little "awwww"
his drawings remind of me of the 90's
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uR2CVpYXm4Q Stan Lee, " A Liefeld character without shoulder pads is almost naked!" Stan Lee trolls them both so hard.I love how at the end McFarlane jokingly says to Liefeld "when this character's big me and you will be in court fighting over the rights"
and Stan Lee replies "no need to fight over it, It's obviously my creation" haha.
Thanks for posting this.
@DoomDoomDoom: YO, WHAT HAPPENS IF THAT PONY EATS SOMETHING!Same thing that happens when you divide by zero haha.
