    Origin

    When the world became a wasteland cursed by mutants and plagues, Professor Wade Eablis found Evan and took him from his mother. He was able to combine Evan's human DNA with cybernetic parts to create brother Number 13 a servator. At some point Number 13's memory processors got damaged and he wandered off looking for "his father".

    Creation

    Number 13 first appeared in Dark Horse Presents, in issue #2. He was created by Robert Love and David Walker and his first story spanned 5 chapters in issue 2 to 6. These stories were later combined into Number 13 #0.

    Number 13 wonders the barren wasteland looking for his father, and on the way, he rescues Lorna, a three eyed mutant, meets her overly protective father and if forced to kill him. Number 13 then meets a group of mutant kids who introduce him to Mother Goose, who secretly plans on using Number 13 as a weapon against Professor Wade Eablis.

    She is never able to use this plan because Eablis and his remaining servator's attack her and her stronghold. Number 13 leaves the town and faces Eablis, who tries to reprogram him, but Number 13 fights back and is able to overpower his creator without killing him.
