Blackest Night #6: In case of Zombies, break Glass
Nekron and his endless horde of Black Lanterns have cornered the light bearers and Earth's remaining heroes in Coast City. Reinforcements from every wavelength in the spectrum of light are on their way but will they make it in time? In the meantime, the Lanterns will need to double their fortunes if they hope to survive. At their darkest hour, Ganthet played his hand in hopes of turning the tide but will it be enough?
Blackest Night can be broken down into 3 acts: The First act is the formation of a Ring Fellowship. The Indigo Lantern assembled an All-Star ensemble consisted of one Lantern from every wavelength in the color spectrum. The second act begins with Nekron entering the battle for Earth, which is where all multiverses converge (as seen in 52). In the last issue, the ring bearers realize it wasn't going to be so easy to destroy the Black Lantern power battery. Nekron anted up, he utilized Bruce Wayne one last time to issue unique Black Lantern rings that convert life to soldiers of death.
Two soldiers who have tasted death before resist the ring's call: Barry Allen and Hal Jordan. How can they resist its power?
The art in this issue was epic. Ivan Reis was continued to raise his game at the same time pump out issue after issue without any shipping delays involved. The double spread of John Stewart fleeing a planet of undead coming towards the Earth was incendiary. I haven't this type of consistency with jaw dropping battle scene layouts since George Perez (Crisis on Infinite Earths). This is how you do a massive epic event without any boring elements like Secret War that took nearly 5 issues for a battle scene that lasted less than 24 hours.
