    Review: Batman #704

As Batman tries to convince Catwoman to take her sidekick out of the picture, the Wayne foundation's property in Crime Alley is target by a mysterious outfit of Asian assassins.

    The Good

Daniel totally gets these character, so much so that I was seriously hearing Kevin Conroy and the rest of the animated series cast talking in my head as I read the dialogue. I even had some strange new voice for Damian, even though he's never had a voice actor. Also, as somebody familiar with Taoist/Buddhist stories, I so enjoyed seeing a villain seemingly modeled after the Monkey King.

    The Bad

While I liked the dynamic she added to the ongoing power play between Catwoman and the the Bat clan, I do think the addition of Catgirl into the mythos has possibly pushed the "family" aspect of these books into the realm of excessive and ridiculously. There's already a Catman, of course - - are we eventually going to be introduced to a Catboy and a Catmite to round things out?

    The Verdict - 4/5

I don't know why I was expecting not to like this. Maybe it's just because I've been so enamored with what Morrison's doing in Batman & Robin that I'm skeptical of anybody else's take on these characters. With that in mind, I was really pleased to find a rock solid superhero. Daniel's art has an impressive mix of modern flash and classical fundamentals, and his writing's just as sharp.

If there's one great thing about Daniel's writing, it's his grasp of the characters. And if there's one good thing about his art.... that's impossible, there's too many good things about his art!

the other day I was asked by a CV member or higher up about which Batman book they should drop...I said Batman...now that may be based on how unimportant the arc that was running beside the Return of Bruce Wayne stuff was so my opinion could change in the next few months but based on this issue I don't see that happening

@danhimself: Do they read Batman Confidential? They should drop that instead. Last issue was awful and it's the first in a 5-part arc. And the past 3 arcs have been pretty lackluster as well.

@danhimself: I think it's good that not ever title has to play a big role in the others. Then you can read new Batman stories without needing to be tied down by the others.
I haven't read the latest issue, nor do I doubt that Paul Cornell and then Peter J. Tomasi will write some excellent issues, but it seems like, unlike Morrison's run, Batman and Robin will have little to do with the bigger role of the others, and since Morrison started it and wrapped it up after one long 16 issue saga, if you were going to drop a title, that might be a good drop point.
Although personally I just can't advise dropping any bat-title, depending on what counts as a bat title. Confidential is worth dropping, in fact I probably will if the next issue is just as bad. If I was forced to I would have to drop Gotham City Sirens. It's not terrible but it's the least good of the Batman Family titles. But if it's just a 'Batman' title I have no idea.
Basically, I love Tony Daniel's art, and his writing has some very nice qualities to it. I'm just afraid that not enough people will be getting it since it is so untied to the other events; and I'd really hate Tony Daniel's run to end prematurely.

The story is here that Wayne Enterprises(Or Batman Inc Now) is approached by the Tang Lo foundation to buy up their property of crime alley.  Also Dick talks to Catwoman about her taking Catgirl away from the crime fighting buisness for good. The Writing- Tony Daniel is doing a pretty good job of capturing these characters especially Dick, and Selina. The Art-Daniel's a...

The Good: THE ART. Good god the art. They could remove all the dialogue and I'd still pay 2.99 for this because Tony Daniel's art is AMAZING. And I think his inking actually improves it. I know people are giving her shit but I like the idea of Catgirl. She has this twisted Robin like quality to her, but her upbringing and personality make it fresh. I've been waiting for her return since she donned her costume in #697. Seeing The Reaper again was a pleasant surprise. There's a whole lot of intere...
