    The opening scene finds John Carter being treated by a doctor of Helium with Sola by his side. Carter was brutally beaten by an angry mob who blamed him for the disappearance of Dejah Thoris. The doctor is hopeful that John Carter will recover. In another location the story shifts to Dejah Thoris, who is being mistreated by her captors. Will she be able to escape and be reunited with her husband John Carter?
