The scene opens with a fantastic battle between the wingless inhabitant of Karanthor and John Carter & Garthon of Karanthor. As the battle rages, the two escape and flee to Garthon's father for wisdom and help. Later, John Carter confronts Chan Tomar and the victor will claim Dejah Thoris.
