yep, I support them. Still boggles my mind how anyone this day in age can actually be against them. Really there's so many other subjects that are more worthy of people's time then whether 2 gay people can get married or not.

Marriage should have no legal significance. This would allow anybody to marry whoever they want without having to go through the Gov.

But this would screw up are tax system. So this is what I propose.

Any 2 people living in the same household who agree to merge their finances can get a domestic partnership certificate. This would have the same tax benefits as a marriage license.

So example, a man and woman could go to their church of choice to get married. This would make them married in the eyes of their church, but it would have no legal significance. If they choose to live together they can get a domestic partnership license.

Two gay men have a marriage ceremony which in the eyes of their family, friends, and people who recognize gay marriage married. Again, no legal significance. Assuming they live together, they can get a domestic partnership license.

It doesn't have to be a romantic partnership either. A 40 year old woman taking care of her 70 year old mom would also be able to get a domestic partnership license if they live together.
