I didn't understand why the first Deathstroke series didn't work....DC had some decent momentum when New 52 first started.
@vance_astro: It contracted a case of the Liefeld.
@k4tzm4n: Will you please begin writing articles on why Dr. Doom, Dr. Strange, Scarlet Spider, The Question, & Martian Manhunter need their own solo series?
I'll definitely be trying this out. I never read any of Daniels' Detective run so I can't comment on his writing, but hopefully he'll find his groove with this series. Looking forward to it.
Drawn by Tony Daniel is great step in the right direction. Not sure about him writing, let alone the fact that both duties are left up to Daniel, could end up being too much for one guy, isn't that part of the reason we have different people handling different duties for comic books? This seems like a big risk. I may check out this new Deathstroke series, but whether I do or not, I am rooting this artist/writer knocks it out of the park.

Oooooh Yea! THAT GUY!
Looks like they read your article. I'm very excited for this, and tony s Daniel has always been a pretty good writer and a great artist.
@k4tzm4n: I won't say he's a terrible writer, because he isn't - I just didn't find his work to my taste that time. That being said, you do make a fair point, and I'll probably still want to check it out, but money's tight as it is so it's hard to allocate money to something that might not be so good.
Maybe you'll review it for me and let me know if it's worth it? :)
And that is absolutely incredible timing if that is the case! Clearly, you are a prophet?
How prophetic. I wasn't a fan of Daniel's Batman run, so I'll be sitting this out. But at least it'll look great.
Wow, talk about ironic. Didn't that article of why he needs a new ongoing come out like yesterday or something? New design too, looks cool

I don't think it's unreasonable to read the first issue before writing it off, is it? If you're skeptical, that's fine, but at least give it a shot before being so confident it'll be bad, you know?
Even if it's good I fear it will just get cancelled. That's how DC always gets me. I get invested in one of their lower level books that isn't about a member of the Justice League and as soon as I really start getting into it, it's over. This happened to me with Demon Knights, Blue Beetle, Manhunter, Static Shock etc.
I get where you're coming from, but Deathstroke has a key advantage over the listed characters: he's popular -- now more than ever. His increasing number of appearances across various forms of media have boosted interest in him, so it wouldn't surprise me if that makes more readers give the first issue a chance. Then it's just a matter of whether they stick around. Still, if you DO like the first issue, do what you can to support it. Spread the word and all that.

Well, I guess it's a good thing the first issue is only $2.99 ;)
Yes a Deathstroke series, Gregg's article must have worked in making DC give Slade another chance!
(sees that it's Tony Daniel writing the series)
My thoughts exactly. Love his art, but I can't do his writing.

I'll give it a try. Deathstroke is the only villain aside from maybe the Joker that I think SHOULD be able to carry a solo.
Not really sold on the look. I see what they're going for, but I dont like it. Maybe if he changes his outfit from mission to mission, like different variations of the DS outfit, I'll be fine with it. For now, I like the original N52 outfit more, myself. Still, it's good news for DS fans.
I hope Warblade pops up for cutting off his head. Get a good rivalry going. >:D
@k4tzm4n: I know what you're saying, but that's money that could be spent on one of the gazillion other awesome books out instead, some of which probably need more support to stay afloat than Deathstroke. But hey, I honestly hope that this series is great and finds a place in my collection.
And was I right? Somehow I totally get a vibe telling me that you're going to fight over the review rights for the first issue at least.
awesome that cover looks great..I always wanted to get into the last series but there wasnt too much that grabbed me. Tony Daniel is a solid writer and artist though. Ive really enjoyed the Superman/Wonder Woman art hes been doing. But this excites me im totally down for a new deathstroke title and what a perfect time to announce it.
@lvenger: What's wrong with his writing? I'm not sure I've read anything from him..I'm one of those comic books fans that rarely notices the writer
His Detective run was pretty weak but his art was nice. I have to say it was better than Fabok's writing, but not by much.
Deathstroke is one of my faves so I'll be checking this out, but when the heck are they going to RELEASE A LOBO BOOK!!!!!!!
Good news. Especially for Slade fans. Now, can we also get a few titles with more clean-cut super-hero characters instead of more of these mercenary/assasin/anti-hero kinds of books?
Please?

When they figure out which one is the real one. :)
@k4tzm4n can see the future!
@xwraith: Or he knew of the title's confirmation beforehand!
That's so awesome. This news just made my day.
Such a cool character. And his last series was pretty great. Plus we got Daniels on writing and art which is perfect. If he pulls the same gritty darkness he did with the beginning of Detective comics that would be perfect.
Plus this shows that DC is willing to give cancelled books another chance which is great. Here's hoping Hawkman, The Demon and Firestorm get a relaunch as well.

I hear you.
I'd love to review it, but no, I won't fight for it if Tony or Mat really want to review it. I'm lucky enough to already review plenty of books I love!
@xwraith: Or he knew of the title's confirmation beforehand!
Ha, no. I was thrilled when I saw Daniel tweet the news.
It would be cool to see deathstroke with other bad ass DC assassins e.g. Lobo, Richard Dragon, Lady shiva, Grifter, Deathblow, Cassandra Cain, Ravager, Red hood, Deadshot, Cheshire,Bronze tiger, Vigilante etc. It'll also be cool to see a battle against this characters that'll be super cool. ( hawkman and prometheus appearances will be awesome)
What I'm thinking is that Daniel wasn't giving his all when he first started writing. I mean, he had writing and art duties for Detective and he was writing Hawkman on top of that. Let's just hope that this'll be like the first arc of Detective instead of the second and third
Awesome! !!!!!!!
Just wish it'd start off at the issue number the last one left off on instead o f going back to 1
K4tzm4n's article worked
I know right lol.
Daniel writing? Pass. Why can't DC get some good writing talent on lesser known books? That's what Marvel did with Moon Knight and look at the craze that resulted
@dagmar_merrill: Amen!!! His run on Detective Comics New 52 series was terrible. He writes like that D-Bag Rob Liefeld, like a 12 year old little boy.
I wonder if he'll be tanking submarine explosions again.
He did tank punches from Lobo. It's possible LOL
Daniels detective comics wasn't bad and his art is awesome. Stop complaining, at least were getting another Slade series. It will probably be canceled but its not s huge deal because everything gets canceled in DC. As long as its good and sells well and lasts longer than the first series I'll be fine with this getting canceled. Its definitely going on the pull list right now though.
Lol Tony Daniel.
DC's or Marvel's lesser known characters' series haven't lasted long for over a decade now for the most part..
BB
HOLY CRAP! It's like a genie read that last article and granted your wish!
Okay, my turn! I wish Tim Drake and Stephanie Brown would get back together!
