    Bad Deals

In this issue Neron starts to tempt the heroes with their greatest desires. Some tell him no. Yet others like Blue Devil do take Neron up on his offer, only to find out like the villains did, there are consequences to saying yes to Neron.
Back in Hell Luthor and the Joker force the Trickster to tell them where Nerons power is being stored. They then manipulate Circe, Dr. Polaris, and Abra Kadabra into using their magics to open it. As soon as it is opened the three magicians are taken away. This was the Joker and Luthors plan all along, but we find out that Neron also wanted this to happen so his "inner circle" could not become a threat.
The heroes are given the call, all thinking that Supermans is the "pure soul" that Neron is after. All the while Trickster is now alone in hell, never having made a deal with Neron. He discovers Nerons real plan, and decides to start scheming against him.
Frankly I had a hard time with some of the heroes who took  Nerons deal. After the noble posturings in their books, I cant see them taking a deal with the devil for more power.  Especially the Blue Devil, who has seen first hand what could happen if you deal with Demons.
What carries this book, and carries it further than it probably should have gone was the scenes involving the Trickster. I will confess in this review that I have a soft spot for comics that show the villains as real people, and preferrably as competent ones.  The story is picking up and proving to be one of the better inter company crossovers of the 90's.
