    December of 1949 was a bad time for Superman. First there was the bad issue of his own book ( q.v.), and then there was the fifth issue of Superboy which told "The Adventures of Superman When He Was a Boy".  Why was this issue so bad? Take the story 'Superboy Meets Supergirl!'. This was a teen puppy love story about Clark falling for a girl named Lucy who was secretly the queen of a Latin American country hiding out in Smallville (with me so far?).
