    Overview:
The island has been the host for Mortal Kombat long before Shag Tsung made it his home. The island orignally served as a place of honor where proud warriors defended there realm from Outworld's grasp. Since Shag Tsung has taken residence and management over the island he has stacked the odds in favor for his Emperor Shao Kahn. The island is not normally visible to the world and only appears during the tournenment. Various areas serves as the grounds for the tournements matches such as the Main Courtyard, The Palace Gates, Shang Tsung's Gradens, The Pit, The Warriors Shrine, Goro's lair, and Shang Tsung's throne room.

    Match Locations:

Main Courtyard-  The area where student monks watch fights while Shang Tsung's armed guards keep the arriors on the arena floor. This is the normal starting area of the tournement. Shang Tsung watches from atop a throne as the combatants fight each other in mortal kombat.

The Palace Gates- The area outside the Palace wher fighters are given more room to fight. The student monks are not allowed to view fights outside the Palace, but Shang Tsung's armed guards are seen patroling the Palaces walls.

Shang Tsung's Garden- Shang Tsung's personal garden where the decor takes a more Outworld theme. Statues of Outworlds current top warriors can be seen. These include Shang Tsung, Goro, Baraka, Kano, Rain, Reptile, Mileena, and Reiko.

The Pit- The area where Shang Tsung send sfighters he does not want to see come back alive. The Pit consists of a narrow foot bridge suspended over a field of sharp and jagged spikes. Combatants would fight normally until someone was knocked off to their doom. Surprisingly many fighters walked away at first so Shang Tsung charged Reptile to silently eliminate anyone who survived the fall.

Warrior's Shrine- The area normally not accesible to the combatants. Statures of the current fighters are put on display in the order in which they climb the tournement ladder. for the 10th Mortal Kombat tournenment the order was Scorpoin, Sub Zero, Johnny Cage, Kano, Goro(center), Liu Kang, Rayden, Sonya Blade. Shang Tsung premade the statues figuring Goro would be victorious.

Goro's Lair- The lair of the reinging champion of Mortal Kombat. Goro's lair is located on the bottom levels of the island where oni demons dwell waiting for a chance to feed. The actual lair itself is a dark dungeon where various chained corpes and caged demons can be seen along with a throne for Prince Goro. This is where Jax and the Special Forces where caged and mostly killed during the tournement.

Shang Tsung's Throne Room- The area where Shnag Tsung oversees and rules his personal island. Odorned with asian inspired decor this area is by far the most grand. The most personal matches as well as the final match take place here. The battle between Scorpion and Sub-Zero started here along with Liu Kang's matches versus Ermac and the final round versus Shang Tsung himself.

    MK vs DCU:
The Island was featured in MK vs DCU as half of one of the stages. According the the World Merge Crisis Shang Tsung's Island and Themyscira are located in the same location implying them to be one and the same. This merger leads to a battle between Wonder Woman and her amazons versus Shang Tsung and his Tarkantan Army.
