Anti-heroes vs Villains

Anti-Heroes/Anti-Villains and standard villains generally only end up on the same side at times because they are both opposed by true heroes. There is a strong likelihood though that in the absence of heroes, the two groups would not really get along.

So when the world wakes up one morning to all the heroes gone, and these anti-heroes and anti-villains find themselves in a world ruled by true, crazy, destruction-craving villains, they are forced into a position of opposition because, if the villains rule, then everything these others hold dear, be it money, power, safety for their people, or guarantees for their future, all of it is in danger.

List items

  • Black Adam may be brutal and ruthless but he does not entertain himself by inflicting pain and suffering nor is he a fan of slavery or subjugation. He considers himself a hero, specifically a hero who will do what is necessary to protect Khandaq. He has never enjoyed working with villains or being considered one, only ever doing so because he believed it was the best way to protect his people or because he felt as if the heroes were obstacles to that endeavor.

  • Deathstroke is an assassin. In a world ruled by villains, that job becomes increasingly difficult to carry out. Villains are unpredictable. They fear little, they welcome chaos and confrontation, they regularly disrupt the norm, blowing his cover, and worst of all, they regularly do not pay. Too many times he has worked with villains and they have ambushed him with goons when he has gone to collect. He is no fan of this world.

  • Sinestro's primary goal has been justice from the beginning. His issues with the Guardians was that they never went far enough to preserve peace and enforce justice. When Sinestro hears that earth has been taken over by villains, he and his corps speed there, at the request of his friend Black Adam, to assist him removing the villains from power.

  • Deadshot is an assassin like Deathstroke with a little more at risk. His ex-wife and daughter both live in Gotham. Gotham on the best days, when the entire Batfamily is there and patrolling, is a hell hole. Deadshot likes living in a world where heroes exist. It creates a market for his work while ensuring his daughters safety. He would find himself in the awkward position as a protector of Gotham.

  • Zod is not a villain, at least not in his eyes. He is a hero. He may be cold, and calculating, and merciless but he has no interest in world or universal domination. He wants to bring back Krypton, his home, and save any of the people that are left. Villains are his enemy. Any time he has worked with them, it has been to pursue his overall goal of the restoration of Krypton. With the heroes gone though, and no Superman family,
