Everything that is living, that is. Everything that breathes the invisible oxygen. I have wondered if it is possible for a human being to get through life without purpose. Is it possible, my fellow viners? Speak your mind. Do animals have a purpose in life? Is it their purpose to reproduce and multiply? If animals have a purpose, what is it? I'd love to know. What is the purpose of being human? What is the purpose behind being born from the womb and opening our eyes to the world around us?
What would that be like? Would humanity create another form of discrimination?
To truly have a world without racial or sexual discrimination, then the concepts of 'races' and 'sexes' would first have to be totally abandoned. By everyone. The first point seems simple enough- after all, there is only one extant race of hominids. The human race. Scientifically, we've already proven that the most genetically divergent living people on earth, the Khoisan, only have one quarter of the genetic divergence which would be required to truly classify as a separate 'race'. When truly different races enter the equation- if the Neanderthalis or Floresiensis subspecies are brought back from extinction, if we use genetic engineering to create sapient populations of other species, or if we make first contact with an alien race- then science will prevail, and the antiquated notion that there are several 'races' of humanity will be abandoned. However, the second point will undoubtedly be far more difficult to resolve, because we are a species which reproduces sexually, with significant sexual divergence. Sexism comes hand-in-hand with any element of sexuality; the only way to eliminate it altogether would be to eliminate sexuality itself. Would that really be a sacrifice worth making? No more sexism, in exchange for no more sex?
I guess sexism and racism are "necessary evils". I don't want to get rid of sexual intercourse, though. I guess one can't live without the other.
