@zevet: so being in ONE film makes it alright? I mean half of the JL were in at least one movie dedicated to them. Flash, Aquaman and Cyborg are essentially the same role as Hawkeye and Widow. Hell people go on about how we've been wiht the Avengers for ten years but at most the mcu heroes have been in six films (Iron Man) on average they've been in only 3-5. Lets go through all of them
Iron Man- 7 movies (3 entirely to him, 2 Avengers, partial lead in Civil War, minor role in SM)
Captain America- 6 movies (3 to him, 2 Avengers, I guess as a video recording in SM)
Thor- 5 movies (3 to him, 2 Avengers)
Hulk- 4 movies (1 to him, 2 Avengers, half of Ragnarok)
Black Widow- 5 movies (partial in Iron Man2, 2 Avengers, 2 Captain Americas... a side character has been in more movies than one of the big 4)
Hawkeye- 3 movies (2 Avengers, Civil War, I guess as a shadow in Thor so 4)
War Machine- 4 movies (3 Iron Man, very brief in AoU, Civil War)
Scarlet Witch- 2 Movies (AoU and Civil War)
Vision- 2 movies (AoU and Civil War)
Ant Man- 2 movies (Ant Man and Civil War)
Spiderman- 2 movies (Civil War and Homecoming)
Doctor Strange- 1 movie (Doctor Strange)
Guardians- 2 movies
most of them have been in at most 3 movies. Out of 13 characters only 5 are more than 4 and some of those are supporting or limited roles. Even then a film shouldnt be a freaking prologue. Even then half of the Avengers did not even change or develop at all. How was Thor any different beginning to end in Avengers? What arc does Iron Man go through in? The closest I can think of is Hulk but it is so abrupt and poorly handled it is a joke. Again you shouldnt rely on other films to set up their characters. If JL had a million movies establishing these characters NOTHING would change. All the characters are established in about 2 seconds and do develop. Flash is established as a loner trying to help his father. At the end he is moving on from his father. Is it shakespeare or the most brilliant develop? No but to say there was no development or you can't have your cake and eat it just isn't true. In fact I'd say Batman and Wonder Woman had the least development. Batman I can sort of stretch out originally believe his end was near and being borderline suicidal taking on a near death mission but it is filling in too many dots. Wonder Woman is literally the same beginning to end.
It isn't hard to establish a character AND develop them. This idea that you need one movie to establish one to develop is bs. You are basically saying movies HAVE to be split up and one has to be a martre. BvS for all its flaws established AND developed Batman pretty well. He is broken and old and just has no hope. By the end he is a totally opposite person from the start. He had more development in 1 film than most of the Avengers in most. Hell even mcu establish AND develop their characters. For example Captain America TWS establishes that Cap is happy with his life and how things are in his world but by the end it literally comes crumbling down. Why does establish AND development have to be mutually exclusive
