Who do you think the greatest strategist in the 616 Marvel universe is?
Marvel
Formerly known by names including "Atlas" and "Timely", Marvel Entertainment is the publisher of comic books featuring iconic characters and teams such as the Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, the Avengers, the X-Men, Iron Man, the Hulk, Thor, Captain America and Daredevil. Currently owned by the Walt Disney Company, Marvel is one of the "Big Two" comic publishers along with DC Comics.
Who is the greatest strategist in Marvel?
Cyclops, Nick Fury, and Black Panther are all said to be very skilled strategists, not sure who's the best...
Although Marvel has plenty of tacticians I don't recall a single strategic feat. Even then its likely to be an example of a stratagem in action and not indicative of even the possession of strategic thought, much less skillful strategy.
Karnak, he can see the flaw in anything.
That makes him a good adviser or editor, not a good strategist.
@squares: what? he is the stragegist for the Inhumans i'm pretty sure he is one of the greatest strategist in comics, he can see the flaw in anything then he finds how to exploit it. that's sort of what a strategist does..
except unlike your list of panther, cap and cyclops, he doesn't have to spend time strategizing to find a weakness he sees it.

Being able to identify a weak point in an opponent doesn't automatically give you the plan you need to defeat them. That's what strategy is- making plans using the information at hand, no matter how much or how little you have.
It's like saying a good editor is automatically a good writer.
don't be stupid.
Black Panther, Doom, Thanos.
I think a lot of people are confusing strategy with tactics in this thread.
I'd say Cyclops over the over the last six years. Cyke has outsmarted Doom, Norman Osborne, A evil version of the Illuminati, The Avengers, his fellow Xmen, and then so me. Captain America has earned props over the decades and is an inspiration to heroes in the MU. Cap however, has shown weakness and doubt in his leadership skills over the years. He was even cast out of the Illuminati, I think . Cap inspite of being in WWII lacks killer instinct at times. That's the difference between him and Cyke even though Cap has more experience. Cyke has been trained since he was a teen to lead and will take that kill shot to end the situation as fast as possible.
I could troll you for weeks if i wanted to. But i don't argue over fictional characters... unless its about jesus.
go for it,i'm not paying for your internet. getting 'trolled' isn't a big deal dude. you should get out more.

He's more of an advisor than a strategist. He does help come up with plans along with the rest of the royal family but hes not a top strategist himself. He also detects weaknesses but hes doesnt know everything, plans have all sorts of unpredictability that even Karnak can't perceive sometimes. His weakness ability works better with structural weakness that theoretical weaknesses.
@thorson: @blackdog2009: Stop bickering, please.
Edit: Just noticed that conversation took place days ago......someone only flagged it now. Nonetheless, don't bicker in the future.
BP and Doc Doom
These guys.
Thanos, Star-Lord...lots of good ones.
Can you recommend stories for me? I really want to read them. My favorite period of X-Men was the 70s and 80s and although I was a big Cyclops fan and the characters said how great of a leader he was, it never showed. Wolverine and Storm were better. I read Messiah Complex and Second Coming and he was my favorite X-Men reading them, and he rose to be in my top 5 Marvel. Now I've been reading the All New X-Men/ Uncanny X-Men and haven't been that impressed.
Cap>Black Panther.
Cap doesn't have contingency plans for Galactus. Panther does.
Black Panther.
