Major Story Arcs
Jerry begins courting Drusilla Parrish. He learns that she is the daughter of a wealthy newspaper owner and he plans to marry her in order to get an important job in the family business. He uses intense passion to prove to Drusilla that they are in love and she agrees to marry him. The fact is, however, that he is in love with Betty Jones. He doesn't know that Drusilla finds out about Jerry's double life and he gets upset when Drusilla stands him up at the alter. He flees town in shame and drinks himself to death despite Betty being completely willing to take him in.
