Saudi Arabia calls for Internet censorship agency

 You couldn't make this up. According to the Daily Telegraph(Oct 11, 2012), Saudi Arabia is officially calling for the formation of an Internet censorship agency to remove any and all things "offensive to Islam" from the World Wide Web. Presumably in the name of religious "tolerance". Leaving aside the grotesque hypocrisy of one of the world's most rabidly intolerant (at least religious wise, although it is no paragon of political tolerance either- Christian worship is forbidden within the Kingdom, even privately , avowed Jews are banned from entry  and scurrilous anti-Semitic propaganda worthy of Der Sturmer is regualrly aired in the official- ie state controlled -media) societies unctuously pontificating about religious tolerance.
 
It is unlikely that this proposal will carry the day, (due to mainly Western opposition), but my question STILL stands- who defines what is "offensive to Islam" and what should the punishment be for such "offenses"( I doubt very much if Western societies would approve of execution for "blasphemers" when we don't even put to death multiple or terrorist killers???

They've tried this before. Won't happen but yes, clearly there is a problem that is being allowed to fester because of the handholding between Western nations and the Mecca containing country allowing them to use their land and air-space. It's not surprising and its just posturing to settle down the clerics calling for the US to get out of the country.

 yes, I know this proposal is unlikely to carry the day but as the old saying goes- "the price of liberty is eternal vigilance!"

Totally unrelated but sort of related, but.....Yeah I remember when I was in Turkey and I couldn't load a pron website. I googled "turkey pron censorship?" Mindblown. Pron sites are banned in Turkey. This was not good for me at the moment. So I had to find other research. How does a country go on without precious fap material? I cannot fathom this.
