Frank Quitely's Art Work: Love it or Hate It?

His art is not the worst, but it's not the best either.

i liked it in jla earth 2 with the crime syndicate, but want to puke from his x-men work and especially his old dwarf asian granny version of emma frost

At first I hated his work but after reading more of his work I've come to partly liking him. He's a good storyteller, though he still occasionally irks me.

It really depends on the title, I think.

Like any artist, his work has it's ups and downs. I usually do like his art, though.

Like it, not love it.

On All-Star Superman, it's superb.

On New X-Men, it was...ok. Kinda weird at times.

The soul patch he gave Wolverine was just.....

I like it, he expresses emotions and character very well

I know some people are for it and I'm happy they like Quitely.. But I don't. In fact I hate him, not as much as I hate Humberto Ramos but close. I really liked the "New X-Men" series so that proved to me that bad artwork doesnt prevent me from liking comic series but wow, it was aggravating. It makes me wonder what Marvel sees in these guys to keep them around, I mean you can't possibly tell me you like Humberto Ramos' Wolverine. I could have drawn that lol but I guess everyone is different, I was introduced to my favorite artist (Steve Dillon) back in 2007 when I read Wolverine Origins vol.1.. That is good artwork to me.

His X-men is god awful...though backgrounds and extras (as in non-xmen people) ranged from okay to good.

There are some AMAZING panels in All star Superman, and there are a few mediocre panels that remind me of Dr. Katz, or generic paint by number colors with overt details in sparse areas. in general Id say I like it a lot. There is one thing that bugs me, his inconsistency with drawing Superman.. Seriously go back through and just look at superman's face , it keeps changing between a few different models. You have Flat faced superman, where it seems his face was polished down to remove distinguishing features. You have Square jaw superman which reminds me a lot of Frank Millers Batman. You have Bulbous chin Superman which seems like a dimpleless Jay Leno, and finally look at the cover of issue six... TURKEY_NECK SUPERMAN!!!.

its like He couldn't decide whether Superman should look more like Powdered Toast man, The Tick, Jay Leno or Gorbachaff. Not a deal breaker. I still like it, BUT MAN DOES THAT BUG ME.

I dislike it. It's not bad and it's not good. It just does nothing for me.

Love it. All Star Superman, Batman and Robin, he's been behind my most beloved comics of all time. How could I not be a fan of his art?

I used to hate it but after reading JLA: Earth 2 I came to like it.

It works for some stories but really doesn't for others, so whether I hate it or love it would depend on which story it is for.

I prefer others over it

It definitely isn't for everyone. I personally like it but I can understand if someone doesn't.

Nothing wrong with this.

It's an acquired taste. Personally, I really like how expressive yet subtle his art is during small character moments at times.
