Better character: Joker (The Dark Knight) or Walter White (Breaking Bad)?
@novaprime2: How do you define a better character?
Heath Ledger's Joker wasn't as fleshed out but it was perfect for what it is.
I'm going to make a thread on this if you don't want to make one.
Thanks.
There shouldn't be a single vote for Joker.
Walter White is pretty much better in every way and has way more showings to back this up. Joker was a perfect villain for his movie but he can't compete against one of the best characters of all time.

Walter, but it's close tho.
Difficult to compare. Very different roles in the story.
I’ll pick Walter because of how he stands on his own more while Joker exists more to complement the rest of the movie. But the counter to this would be that the complimentary nature is why the Joker is better.
White stands on his own? Nearly every season relies heavily on secondary antagonists, not to mention Pinkman is basically a co-lead. Saul, Gus, Hank, Tuco, Mike, even Skylar... I think season 1 is probably the only season that comes close to standout for Walter. Once Jesse's character starts getting more complex and it goes deeper into his addiction, morality and identity struggles it is in no way stand alone to Cranston.
Walter is definitely a more complex character and much more transformative as his entire character storyline involves his metamorphosis. Joker is a really cool character but there aren't any layers to him in present storytelling, that's different if you want to go back to his genesis. As he refers to himself, he's an unstoppable force.
@ironandfire: I don’t really know what your point is in response to how the character complements the surrounding narrative but I think Walter has always been the best part of Breaking Bad. (Except for maybe torwards the end of season 5 where Hank and Pinkman have to oppose Walter)
Though I’m definitely not arguing that Walter doesn’t complement the rest of the show (because Pinkmans arc does relate to who Walter is as a character, and Walter serves as a good Antagonist to Hank, which in turn enhances those 2 characters), it’s just that I think Joker does is better.
But I did vote Walter.
@modernww2fare: I'd argue that Cranston delivered an overall stronger performance than Ledger but to be fair on Ledger, he only had the runtime of one movie to work within.
Walter. I think Cranston also outacted Ledger too..
@jurance: Best CBM character? Nah
@straight-fire: Who do you think the best is?

TBF, if he had just as much time as Cranston then they probably would have milked him lol.
@jurance: Yeah that's true, you can only show so much of a character before they become repetitive and uninteresting.
@jurance: It's between Wolverine, Spider-Man [Holland], or Wanda.
