Whitebeard takes it in terms of feats shown at Marineford.

Whitebeard being the strongest man alive should win in a battle of physical strength against Sengoku, (unknown in his DF form as Sengoku's strength did increase substantially). And Sengoku could manhandle a virtually bloodlusted Garp just after the incident with Ace so would expect Garp to not physically be at Whitebeards level in terms of pure close-combat strength.

Doubt Garp can still punch as hard as he can when he dented Chinjao's head back in his prime... But his fist will definitely make Whitebeard bleed. Can't imagine his profiency with cannonballs will come in very useful here though.

Whitebeard was still regarded as the most dangerous pirate, even though he had massive health issues, so despite his obvious decline with time, he's still got plenty in the tank for a battle with one or both.

Both have incredible endurance and speed so despite their striking power, they won't find it easy to put the other down.

In terms of the actual fight, think Whitebeard narrowly loses a one on one fight, as they were similar when in their prime and Garp has declined less over the years. Sengoku on Garp's side would swing it way over to Garp winning this, so a one-on-one fight is probably best.

I would give an edge to Garp since WB was sick.

by statements, they are equals. admirals didnt phase newgate but he actually was a bit worried when garp punched marco. it would certainly be a very difficult and long brawl

Regardless of conditions, there is more evidence to say that Whitebeard was on Par with Roger, then there is to say that Garp was.

as of chapter 957, Garp and Roger defeated the Rocks Pirates which was led by Rocks D. Xebec and consisted of 3 future yonkos namely a young kaido, a young big mom, and even whitebeard. Before I would have said whitebeard but now I'm picking garp for the W

Kaido, Big mom and Whitebeard were still learning, they weren't at the peak of their power at that time.

Apart from that:

Whitebeard was said to be the only one who could pull a draw in a 1 vs 1 fight against Rogers. Also there must have been a reason why the title of the strongest was given to whitebeard after Rogers dead and not to Garp, or shared by WB and Garp.

Garp apparantly had still insane battles against rogers but I think WB is a little stronger.

Assuming that they aged equal, old whitebeard would be still a little stronger than old Garp. But unlike WB, Garp isnt sickly so I guess this puts them on eqal terms, maybe even at advantage of Garp. But usually I see WB a little stronger.

It seemed to me as if WB has deteriorated more than Garp.

In prime; Whitebeard extremely high diff.

In Marineford; Garp high diff.

Until we see more from Garp, you just have to give the edge to WB.

Garp probably edges him out. Not being able to use Haki defensively is a huge disadvantage

Based on what are claimjng WB would have been weaker with the Rocks? Whitebeard was 72 at Marineford, 40 years ago with the Rocks, he would have been in his early 30s, aka his physical prime.

Same with Big Mom and Kaido.

Garp should take the W IMO. There is also that thing where everyone claims, Oda stated that Garp was the strongest Marine at the Marineford.
