    Thoth-Amon, a sworn enemy of Kalanthes covets the gem and does not want Kalanthes to succeed. He uses all of his power to try to wrestle the gem from Kalanthes before he attempts to destroy it.

    Conan and Janissa (The Widowmaker) escort Kalathes in an attempt to get him to the city of Hanumar, one of the few magical cities where the gem can be destroyed beginning in issue 12 of Dark Horse's Conan monthly series entitled The Hanumar Road.
