it died when i discovered internet porn
How is this even a contest. Kevin Conroy's voice is what batman sounds like in my head when I read comics.

This is a different poll. Lol you're thinking of my previous one "who's the better voice for batman"
@modernww2fare: oops lol. For some reason my mind instantly went to their voices. My vote works though because I feel like DCAU batman gave that never give up, never say die spirit better than the Nolan batman. Which I think is the biggest part of batman's character.
I don't care about cartoons anymore so live action for me wins every time.
*facepalm* so then by your logic even Batman & Robin is better than the animated movies?! because it's live action

The question wasn't about that movie, was it?

No but you said "live action action wins for me every time", you didn't specify which live action movie wins

Would it make you feel better if I edited my comment? I didn't realize context is such a difficult subject to grasp.
I still don't care about cartoons. Couldn't care less about Batman and Robin either. They're both irrelevant as far as I'm concerned.

Shame on you.

DCAU hasnt got a distinguished Batman.....they're different from one movie to the other.
So Christian Bale.

That if you take out the Animated Series, and compare movies,(because you're asking to compare 20 years of history, with 3 movies.....and that's not fair, man) so you can say that,in all the DC animated movies,we see a slightly different Batman,in every one of them, whereas in the Nolan movies it's the same Batman, okay naturally evolving, but still the same Batman.
It's a writers' thing.

No no no, the DCAU Batman is specifically the one from the Bruce Timm universe (Btas to JLU), not all animated Batmans in general.

Then dude it is Paul Dini's of cource.
But still, you cant compare 15 years of content to 3 movies, but ok,as an interpretation ,of cource it's the animated Batman.
Both :)
Basically,yeah,both.
Yeah,i'll go with both too.
DCAU.
Both universes redid villain orgins, but I prefer the way they did it in the cartoon. Batman was too emo in the movies, too; cartoon Batman was much more badass. The romance in the movies was too overt and boring and really dragged the movies down; there was a little romance in the series, but it didn't bog down the story and characters like it did in Nolan's series. Batman was smarter in the cartoon, actually using detective skills rather than relying on tech built for him all the time.

Yeah, we didn't really get to see him using his detective skills in the Nolan movies compared to the animated series.
Childhood says DCAU, teenage-hood says Nolan's
lol maybe you should revisit the DCAU, especially Justice League Unlimited
Nolan, easily. DCAU Batman was the exact opposite of every other DCAU character in that he was stupidly buffed, whereas Nolan's Batman was the first, and only, Batman to be exactly what he should have been: A normal person who perfected himself as much as possible.

You didn't like Batgod?!
@supbatz: me too
Lol, I did when I first watched it. It was pretty distracting.
Rachel's nipples are poking out lol I can't believe no one ever caught that
DCAU for me because:
1. The stories are more fantastical meaning you could have a show like BTAS with a dark Batman but at the same time exist in the same universe as Superman and even have Batman in space. You just can't have that kind of fun with Nolan's Batman.
2. Nolan's Batman is too dark and gritty whereas DCAU had a better balance of dark and humor and didn't have to resort to being gritty to make Batman cool.
3. I love that the writers and producers of BTAS weren't afraid of introducing the Bat-family. Most people nowadays make excuses for not having Robin saying it doesn't fit the mythos and I think that is just pure BS and has more to do with the fact that such people who say that lack the ingenuity to make such characters work. So props to Bruce Timm and Paul Dini.
The real challenge for me is which Joker I prefer because I love the DCAU Joker but Nolan's Joker actually scared me to the point that I can't watch The Dark Knight ever again.

Good response!
People are so shallow with their opinions it's depressing.
Yeah you can look at the voice, the look, the action, the gadgets but I'm looking at how the role was interpreted I hate the Bale Batman voice as much as the next guy but think about how he went about doing the role. He tried something different, he saw it as playing 3 characters instead of just 2. Batman is an act, Bruce Wayne is an act, but the real substance of the character comes when he interacts with Alfred and Lucius and R'as that's where you see the determination and wit that most are used to seeing in the Batman persona. That's honestly an interesting way to go about portraying the character and I wish more actors would use this and more writers would take advantage of this because it adds one more layer full of possibilities and interesting interactions.
But yes voice matters. You need to evoke the right badass presence and Conroy definitely does that. But his voice and mannerisms just wouldn't have fit right with Bale and Nolan's Batman. It can't feel completely natural or else you lose the aspect I was talking about in the last paragraph. I feel if Bale's Batman would be able to evoke the presence and the voice of Roger Craig Smith's Batman the movies would have been perfect.
But that's all in the act in the writing if feel TAS gets Batman down perfectly not the whole DCAU but the original cartoon alone. Nolan's Batman has a good arc within the first two movies but the TDKR weakens his character so much with his giving up after the 2nd and retiring at the end of the movie that overall what Nolan had built up for him was completely ruined.
Overall Nolan and Bale had great ideas and had a thing going for them but in the end the character wasn't executed as great as it could've been and it was completely ruined by the 3rd movie in my honest opinion. DCAU had a stronger performance and more consistency character wise that objectively it was the better character even if I don't quite agree with the interpretation.
Yes DCAU is better.

Very good response. But when you said Conroy's voice and mannerisms wouldn't have fit, he did a good job of doing two distinctive voices for Batman and Bruce in the original BTAS.
