Major Marvel Comics Character Killed in Civil War II #3 [Spoilers]

A long-existing character gets killed. The result will have a huge impact on the Marvel Universe.

Things are pretty tense in the Marvel Universe. A new Inhuman named Ulysses has surfaced with the ability to see visions of the future. This has lead several heroes to take charge and stop threats before they happen.

Tony Stark was outraged when his best friend War Machine was killed after a group of heroes decided to take on Thanos. Stark kidnapped Ulysses in order to figure out how his powers worked. Stark believes the future is meant to happen, and they shouldn't be trying to change things. When the Inhumans and other heroes arrive to free Ulysses, another vision occurs with the Hulk going on a murderous rampage. The question is: Should they protect the future or change the future? The results are disastrous.

There will be spoilers for Civil War II #3 below.

No Caption Provided

Bruce Banner has been cured of being the Hulk. He hasn't had a "Hulk incident" in almost a year. Regardless, Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers) and Tony Stark show up at his secret laboratory. They ask him to step outside, and Banner discovers and army of superheroes. The situation is explained, and Bruce asks if they are there to lock him up or "put him down." Stark tells him they're divided on what should be done and need more proof.

Some proof is found. Beast hacked into Banner's computers while they were talking and found evidence he was injecting himself with treated dead gamma cells. Banner is upset at the accusations, and when he starts raising his voice against him, action is taken.

Hawkeye turns himself in for killing Banner before he could turn into the Hulk. At his trial, he explains Banner asked him to do this. Banner approached him months before, and gave the tool that would kill him if he were to Hulk out. Banner knew Hawkeye was one of the few people that could kill him and eventually live with the choice.

Tony Stark is even angrier than before. He feels his friend and founding member of the Avengers was murdered. He asks Carol, "Who's next on your hit list?"

With the verdict for Hawkeye about to be delivered, the Marvel Universe watches on to see what will happen next. The next issue will be released on July 27.

Hmm, I don't remember any massive crossover events centered on Destiny, Negasong Teenage Warhead and Blindfold. Precogs are a dime a dozen in the Marvel Universe. Why is everyone losing their shit?

This event is just stupid.

Truly hope to meet Bendis in person one day to express the collective dislike for everything he's done over the last 5 years. Utter jerk who runs amok in whatever fandom he's currently contracted to.

Systematically is given the keys to the car, and writes whatever he pleases for shock value. Not sure if it is more disappointing that Marvel allows it - or that Bendis aspires to it.

@roy81: If I recall correctly Blindfold is mentally unstable. If she were to tell you that Thanos was going to land in Texas and kill everyone you wouldn't be able to tell if shes delusional or having a legitimate vision of things to come. So maybe the reason Ulysses is so "important" is that he's the most lucid mentally stable clairvoyant thats currently alive in the Marvel Universe.

Yea i already saw this a few hours ago, on top of that i saw Bendis saying he has plans for Banners corps, so i guess he will piss on it one last time before he let's the guy rest in peace.

And with this i officially stop reading everything from Marvel, until Banner get's back and is the Hulk again, Marvel isn't getting anything from me.

This is exactly how I feel and will be doing the same.

I'm really confused where this is going.

Civil War 1 was pretty meh by the end, but the story was solid. A major event happens and lines are drawn. Both lines seem like they're the "right" side to be on because there's a ton of ambiguity. They fudged it up horribly by making Tony Stark some mustache twirling villain by the end, but it at least made sense at the start.

This time though its completely bonkers.

Some random Inhuman is having visions of the future that no one can verify and that none of the other future seers are backing up so Carols going off entirely half cocked trying to fix the future (stupid) while Tony is thinking she's insane (because her plan straight up is).

Everyone here has probably seen every sci-fi trope imaginable when it comes to this scenario. Trying to fix the future, at best, causes it to happen and at worse makes it infinitely worse than it would have been.

What sides are there to this?

Carols "I'm going to go get people killed because someone told me the future was bad! Fix the future by killing the present!" team.

or Tony's "This woman is friggin insane and why are we just believing this random Inhuman without any proof whatsoever?" team.

This event started off just kind of ok; but at this point it already feels like it's going out of it's way to be terrible and piss people off. Is Bendis just like writing a career suicide note or something?

I have always loved and will always love Marvel, and i never wanted to be one of those people who says they are quiting Marvel after some stupid status quo change....but the depowering and murder of of my favorite avenger combined with the ignored inhuman genocide of all mutantkind, demonizing and exile of my favorite X-man, and plus all the other stupid substituting (I wouldnt be surprised if Bendis did something to Spiderman so that Miles becomes the "real Spiderman" by default) *sigh* but I think im going to take a break for now and come back after all this stuff hopefully ends

Despite all of the terrible events Marvel has had in the past 7 or 8 years, Civil War II is probably still the low point. I hated even clicking on this article, because I didn't want to add to the traffic of the story. I've defended Bendis from haters for years, but he's proving them all right.

@doc-holiday: Because dun, dun, dunnn! The other psychics were 'mutants' (now a dirty word at Marvel) and this psychic's an Inhuman (now special because marvel needs to market a movie).

The rest, I guess, is up to Bendis to loosely string together.

This book, as a by-product, makes me hate the Inhumans and hate Captain Marvel.

But worst yet, in the real world I'm just being left with hating Marvel and Bendis. And 10 years ago I never thought either of those was possible.

This has to be the worst marvel event in my 30 year lifespan.

Maybe this will be the last hero/hero fight for a long while. If it is though I wonder if the marvel writers remember how to write a story where the heroes aren't the bad guys?

Let's kill Carol instead.

The funny thing about this event is that it's making her look like the absolute worst possible choice to lead the Avengers.

At least in the original Civil War there were rational/logical arguments being made on both sides.

In this one Carol is just reckless and honestly, just really, really stupid. And she's a criminal.

I wonder if she's currently doing her best impression of Superman from Injustice... the way she's taking the law into her own hands and justifying it with her fascist illogic. And all of this based on the word and the powers of some dude who's completely unknown to any of the heroes, and who only gained powers like yesterday sniffing terrigen mists.

It's all just so incredibly absurd.

I would ask when Captain America is going to step in to knock some sense back into these people, but even he's not in his right state of mind at this point.

Not reading this (and haven't bothered with any "event" since getting back into comics a couple years ago), but is Carol just blindly trusting this newbie Inhuman is legit or was there at least some setup showing his ability to see future events is solid and not just speculative?

I figured a way out of this dumb plot line.

Mysterio makes some detailed illusions he keeps running that frame heroes who then get murdered like Banner. Then these idiots who killed innocents go to jail or get "punished".

Jeez. Marvel really can't let their fans stay happy for just a little bit can they? So we have no Banner, no Cyclops, no Wolverine, no American values Cap, no worthy confident Thor, no unified family-like X-Men, no mutant Quicksilver & Scarlet Witch, no War Machine, and no Fantastic Four. I never imagined myself disliking Marvel this much even three years ago.

Thanks. Of course Marvel doesn't want fun or original ideas or else they would have done what I wanted for the Old Man Logan continuation which is to have Logan raising Baby Hulk, finding other metahumans, possibly mutants or reincarnations like Iron Fist and Moon Knight, even possibly using the Venom symbiote to make a new spider-man and training a brand new generation of Avengers to defeat the current villains/leaders of America and save the world.

I still can't believe people buy this shit. If a Bendis written event wasn't enough, you'd think the fact that 'Civil War II' being the best title they could come up with would be a good indication of the quality you could expect.

I have always said an argue about this on battle thread.About how you could kill Hulk, is when he changes back to banner ,the end. Still marvel is drink some special juice around there .Destroying all there top characters.I hope they stay far away from Ultimates an Squadron Supreme.

Instead of crying like man childs on here. Why not take it to Bendis Twitter or something? I'm sure he has one.

Stay salty, while I continue reading this solid series. And all it would take to pacify many of you cry babies is big planet busting explosions and shockwaves that rip through galactus arse.
