A likely alliance. (Spoilers!)
TMNT #36 REVIEW! The Shredder and General Kraang are in talks of an [uneasy] alliance, but will this alliance of evil actually happen? (NEXT ISSUE)
THE GOOD
So in this issue, The Shredder comes to General Kraang about plans to form an alliance. (Basically, to benefit them BOTH when they become rulers of the Earth.) However, while Shredder makes his case about why the two should join forces, old wounds are reopened and because of it, pushes Kraang and Shredder to begin a [continuing] war with one another. The writers (Kevin Eastman, Bobby Curnow, and Tom Waltz) make this a MUST READ ISSUE with its clever use of past events, the characteristics/motives of Shredder and Kraang, and how they ultimately make you WANT more of the Shredder vs. Kraang story by the end of this issue!
If you haven't been following this series as of late, I suggest you pick this issue up! (As well as last issue.) The writers handled this story extremely well (like I said earlier) and really built up to seeing Shredder/Kraang declare war on one another. They hate one another; that is 100% understood by the end of this issue, even if you haven't been following this series. (They've hated one another for 300 years, but that's old news!) So seeing how the writers took new readers, and old readers, on a journey of seeing what exactly will push these two to fight one another again was really cool to see. The Shredder, without a doubt, really carried this story from beginning to end. (He's a super ninja, why wouldn't he?) But seeing his logic behind why, he and Kraang should team-up, was very informational as well as the bomb that eventually pushed the two characters to declaring war on one another once more! And the ending of this issue was, PERFECT! (Which this issue ended in an amazing mini battle between Shredder and Kraang, well scripted!)
The mini-battle between Shredder and Kraang was handled really well (by the writers) and illustrated beautifully by Cory Smith with colors by Ronda Pattison. The fight sequence reminded us ALL why siding with Shredder is in everyone's BEST interests!
THE BAD
No complaints!
