    Greed Games Of The Gadgeteer!

Private Hank Heywood comforts his girlfriend, Gloria Giles. Her father, Gilbert, lies in a hospital bed. Heywood fears that Gilbert's heart attack was caused by his possible realization that Heywood is also Steel, the Indestructible Man. Despite Heywood's ideological differences with Gilbert, Heywood is more convinced than ever that the United States of America must enter World War II. Heywood, as Steel, the Indestructible Man, is seen coming out of the armory, at the Camp Marshall Marine Base, on Long Island. Reluctantly, Steel, the Indestructible Man, finds himself drawn into conflict with his fellow Marines. Rather than fight, Steel, the Indestructible Man, flees.

Kathy Kulhammer chastises Edward Runyon, publisher of the New York Star, for failing to take action during a robbery. Steel, the Indestructible Man, calls on Runyon. Steel, the Indestructible Man, pleads with Runyan to use the New York Star to convince Americans to enter the war effort against Germany. Kulhammer, speaking for Runyon, agrees, on the condition that Steel, the Indestructible Man, capture the man who robbed her, the Gadgeteer. Runyon fears that Kulhammer's father, Congressman Jack Kulhammer, will be furious if Runyon turns the New York Star into a pro-war newspaper. Kulhammer assures Runyon that they will be doing no such thing. Kulhammer has no intention of honoring her deal with Steel, the Indestructible Man.

The Gadgeteer quickly transforms a common street lamp into a high-powered laser. The laser rapidly heats up an armored car, causing the guards to flee for their lives. Though the hull of the armored car melts, the money inside the car is undamaged. In the midst of stealing the money, the Gadgeteer is confronted by Steel, the Indestructible Man. After ridiculing Steel, the Indestructible Man, for his obvious military background, the Gadgeteer flees. Steel, the Indestructible Man, raises his rifle, taking careful aim to bring down the Gadgeteer. Before he can pull the trigger, however, Steel, the Indestructible Man, is attacked by the police.

    Manhunt!

The police surround Steel, the Indestructible Man, believing that he's responsible for an armored car robbery. Despite the best efforts of the New York City Police Department, Steel, the Indestructible Man, escapes them. Steel, the Indestructible Man, goes after the real culprit, the Gadgeteer. Though Steel, the Indestructible Man, is able to catch up to the Gadgeteer, the elusive criminal escapes through the sewers. Based on the Gadgeteer's scorn for the military, Steel, the Indestructible Man, as Private Hank Heywood, is able to learn the Gadgeteer's identity, that of Colonel Roger Romane.

Formerly attached to the Army Engineer Corps, Romane was dishonorably discharged for rank insubordination. Heywood receives a phone call from his girlfriend, Gloria Giles. Her father, Gilbert, is still in critical care, at a local hospital. Giles informs Heywood that she called the Camp Marshal Marine Base, on Long Island, first, looking for him. Heywood fears that his commanding officer will declare him absent without leave, if it is discovered that he has left the base. Heywood's dual identity, as Steel, the Indestructible Man, begins to weigh heavily upon him.

Heywood, as Steel, the Indestructible Man, tracks down the Gadgeteer. Steel, the Indestructible Man, storms the Gadgeteer's apartment. The Gadgeteer throws a grenade. Steel, the Indestructible Man, catches the grenade, then turns to face the outer wall. The force of the explosion is directed outward, as well as towards Steel, the Indestructible Man, keeping other apartment tenants safe from harm. The force of the explosion, however, has taken it's toll on Steel, the Indestructible Man, who finds that he's not as indestructible as he believes. Steel, the Indestructible Man, collapses into unconsciousness.
