The Minstrel and the Sage are mistaken for spies and captured. They tell two stories about Groo. In the first story, Groo is giving the job of spying on King Kohon's enemy. He brings back the wrong information. In the second story, Groo is dispatched as a messenger for King Kassabist. He succeeds in delivering the wrong message to the king's general and the armies of the king end up divided. Groo shows up at the camp where the Minstrel and the Sage are being held and is mocked by those who heard the stories. In the ensuing fray, the Minstrel and the Sage are able to slip away.
