The Faeries, usually referred to as the Fae for short, are race of energy beings that primarily inhabit a dimension parallel to our own. The Faeries were once the dominant terrestrial race, and it could be argued that they still are seeing as they are far superior to humanity in almost every regard.

Evolution starts as a natural process, but to reach the final step it must become artificial. The Fae spent hundreds of years artificially evolving themselves further until at last they discovered the final step, ascension. The Fae found a way to convert their bodies into pure psionic energy.and their minds into quantum data. This made them transcendent and immortal. Seeing as there was no point in reproduction anymore when they had reached the end of evolution, they all ascended. They no longer needed any of their technology, so they let time destroy their cities.

That last generation of Faeries still inhabits the Earth today, living in peace and harmony in a parallel dimension. It's not known how many there are. Most humans cannot interact with them directly, and the Fae rarely attempt to communicate with them, but those with psychic abilities can both see them and visit their dimension.

The Yumekaze, or "dream wind", is a mysterious force with the power to turn human myths and legends into reality. No one knows the source of the Yumekaze or how long it has been present on Earth. Evidence suggests it has existed since the dawn of mankind. It's unknown if the Yumekaze is unique to our world, if it exists on other worlds, or if it is a universal force. All that is known is that wherever a mythological beast or being is widely believed in on Earth, the Yumekaze will bring it to life.

Every now and then there are individuals born with the power to control the Yumekaze and summon legendary creatures at will. These are called Myth Masters. Ayame Hano is the Myth Master of Japan and has the power to summon various ghosts, demons, and monsters from Japanese folklore. She believes that the Yumekaze possesses intelligence as well as self awareness and that it chose her on purpose. When she was a little girl in Japan she always fantasized about going to America and becoming a super hero. She never dreamed of having super powers until high school when she first discovered her control over the Yumekaze. She saw this gift as proof that her destiny was to become a superhero and made plans to move overseas.
