*Nods* I don't think the power race will ever be completely gone. But I think there are a lot of things that will slow it down and mitigate its worst effects.

Awareness is my number one. Generally if people know there's a problem they'll change.

Clear rules have helped as well. No matter how powerful the other character is they are required to sell. That does a lot to slow down the powers arms race.

Thread limits are another thing I think are good. They're not right for all threads of course, but I think some reasonable limits on power are a good idea for many threads.

I agree with all of those statements. I'm not sure how I feel about thread limits though, tbh.

Aside from 'street level' there isn't much definition of powerlevels to be honest. Dealing with powers is one thing Anime RPG sites do better than us.

I'm for thread limits in stuff like street levelers bases. For example a team made of people with no powers or limited powers would be justified putting a thread limit on their base. Or a location designed with street levelers in mind. Basically private threads that are the creation and intellectual property of a user could be limited if that user thinks it would improve the thread.

But some locations should NEVER have a thread limit. Such as real life locations; threads like NYC need to be open to everyone all the time. Any 'public' thread like an empire or the like should ALWAYS be open to ANYONE. I don't think its acceptable to close those off.

I remember that old power arms race... sort of popped up right in the middle of it all. It does seem like things have come a long way for the nU, heres to hoping it stays that way.
