Why does society think it's strange for a man to date an older woman but normal when it's the other way around.

Just curoius society seems to be less accepting of an older female/younger male dynamic than an older male/younger female my girlfriend is 3 years older than me and my mom looks at me funny when I joke about it and my guy friends think it's slightly weird so why is this why is society so

Seems to depend on context. When everyone involved is of age and consenting it shouldn't matter anyway. You like who you like.

What I always find funny is that when it comes to, say, teacher/pupil dating scandals and such, this rule seems to do a 180.

Don't even get me started on that.

Because of social factors which stem from biological evolution factors.

Social factors, its more "normal" to see an old man like Hugh Hefner having a younger girlfriend. Its a sign of male virility despite age, a positive. However, if you do a 180, this doesn't apply for females, hence its "less normal" and hence less commonplace.

Why is this so? This is where biological evolution factors come into play. Male virility despite old age ==> Able to create offspring, so who cares? Again, this doesn't apply for females because the older you are, the less fertile you are able to conceive a child. Hence most mothers are young mothers.

Hence this is why most males will go for younger females.

Because ,,Man can fight for himself but the woman needs the man to protect her'' (not my words).So it is better for a woman to have an older man with experience (I suppose).
