Poll Favorite DC Animated Movies VOTING: 'Wonder Woman' vs. 'Superman vs. The Elite' (339 votes)

Superman vs. The Elite 39%
Wonder Woman 47%
I can't choose... I like them both equally! 6%
Sorry, I'm not a fan of either movie 2%
It brings me great shame to admit I haven't watched these movies and I won't be able to before Friday 6%

The next DC animated movie, Batman: Assault on Arkham, is currently available digitally and the Blu-ray/DVD will go on sale next week (you can read our review here). To help ease the wait, we thought it would be fun to reflect on two of DC's excellent animated projects: Superman vs. The Elite and Wonder Woman. While Assault on Arkham juggles a variety of characters, these two features focused solely on their famous leads and both delivered hugely entertaining rides.

Directed by Lauren Montgomery, Wonder Woman proves that yes, a Wonder Woman movie can work! Diana's voiced by Kerri Russell and the narrative doesn't shy away from the iconic character's mythology. It embraces the key elements of her tale, focuses on the character's depth, and produces plenty of fun and exciting scenes. Meanwhile, Superman vs. the Elite is directed by Michael Chang and is inspired by the terrific ACTION COMICS #775. If you think Kal-El is just a lame or boring boy scout, this is a story you seriously need to experience. The movie places his morals front and center and will help you appreciate why one of the most powerful characters in the DC universe acts the way he does. Obviously, both are more than worthy of your time and attention, but which one do you prefer and why?

Don't worry, you have plenty of time to reflect on these animated movies! The poll will stay open until Friday morning (ET), so that should give you more than enough room to watch these movies and really give the comparison some proper thought. If you do happen to have a preference, we want to hear why! What is it about the experience that made you prefer it over the other? Is it a specific scene? Do you think the narrative is more gripping? Perhaps you thought one was simply more exciting than the other? After you vote, be sure to let us know in the comments below! So, which DC animated movie will take the victory, Viners?

Check the homepage this Friday to see how the voting ends up and why. In the meantime, feel free to make future match-up suggestions in the comments below or tell us via Twitter.

There was little in Superman vs the Elite that made me feel drawn to the character of Superman. Wonder Woman affirms why she should be the mascot of DC in the new millennium.

While I love the Wonder Woman movie and was glad she finally got the spotlight, Superman vs. The Elite was the most inspiring version of Superman I'd ever seen. Whenever I think of Superman, it tends to be that version more than any other. The movie just makes you go "Hell yeah! Superman!!! Da da da da da, da da da. Da da da da da, dun da daaaaaa!!!!!!!!" (You better be able to name that tune)

Easiest decision i've ever made on one of these :) Loved Wonder Woman but Superman vs the elite is something that makes you look at the character in a whole new amazing light, i forgave whatever minor problems i had with art for that remarkable story. Everyone should watch it!

Man that is a long title.

Anyway, haven't seen Supes vs The Elite, so I have to vote for WW. Plus WW is my favorite animated movie, so it'd probably win anyway.

SvE is my choice, it really got to the core of Superman's character and beliefs. It fleshed Superman out and made us understand what he stands for and his moral obligations, plus when he decided to (pretend to) cut loose it was pretty awesome!

WW easy. I think it was a very well done origins story and made me like Steve Trevor. Plus, that opening Amazon fight was glorious.

Wonder Woman, in the pre-Flashpoint Paradox anthology style animated features, Wonder Womanwas one of the high points and signs of what is possible when you have the right script and good casting. Kerri Russel brings youthful exuberence but hardened life to Diana Prince. Nathon Fillion's Steve Trevorr is a fun scamp to play off of.

Superman vs. The Elite, though based on one of the more acclaimed stories just didn't feel right to me. Maybe it was the art style, it and Unbound were an odd stylistic choice. Even though it has fine moment in which Supes finally lets go, the overal quality of Wonder Woman can't be denied.

Superman vs The Elite and that's no contest. Whilst Wonder Woman was a very good film, Superman vs The Elite was a brilliant adaptation of one of my all time favourite Superman storylines. It shows Superman's morality as the front and centre issue, utilises The Elite to propose the counter argument, creates situations where Superman's morality is tested and challenged as well as The Elite's morality having its own perks and appeals. But it ultimately shows why Superman acts the way he does and why he adhere to a high moral standard and that storyline provides one of the best arguments for why I love Superman as the moral paragon of virtue. He doesn't steep to his enemy's level because Superman has a responsibility to himself and the world to show what a better way of living looks like.

I may not like the animation style in “Superman vs. The Elite”, but what can I say… This particular animated movie was based on one of my all time favorite AC’ issues plus DAT final battle and big reveal after it. Diana’s movie is one of the best DC created, no doubt about that, but by small margin I choose “Superman vs. …”, because it captures the best Clark’s qualities very well.

Tough call, but I'm gonna say Wonder Woman. Not only is it the closest we'll get to a Wonder Woman solo movie for a few years, but they just updated her origin so damn well.

Wonder woman hands down wuz better. Superman vs the elite wuz ok but I think if they just had Manchester black with other superman rogues like atomic skull, metallo, live wire and parasite to make up the elite then it would have been more interesting especially if lex luthor made up the elite in order to protect the American people while he wuz president

Superman vs the Elite

As much as I love both Gail Simone and Joe Kelly (Both having written my favorite Deadpool runs). Joe Kelly's Superman script tackles what it means to be Superman in a post 9/11 world. A world where heroes are the ones who kill the bad guys and will actually stoop to the villains lows in order to get the job done. Which is a fascinating character study of Superman and his relevance today. The opening cartoon which is a criticism of how our world today views Superman, than contrast it with what he's actually supposed to be like...was a brillent move on the writer and directors part. It's things like that, I felt Man of Steel severely lacked.

Gail's Wonder Woman script, while fantastic doesn't really tackle a bigger philosophical or ideological issue. Outside the occasional moment of feminism relevance. Which is completely fine (and I feel feminism is completely relevant), but it never dives into that issue far enough. The only moment I can think of where both sides of the argument are properly represented, was when Nathan Fillion's character tells Wonder-Woman that "Just because I open a door for you, doesn't mean I'm trying to repress or belittle you." Other than that, it just tells a fish out of water story....which is one of those plot threads I've been annoyed with for years now.

Two of the best non-Batman related animated DC movies imo. I will give the slight edge to Superman vs. The Elite because it's based off of one of my favorite Superman stories.

as opposed to the sve, which tackles a very simple issue with the intelligence of a 6 year old. might doesnt make right, done.

Wonder Woman easily. It's a shame we didn't get a sequel. It was beautifully animated, and an excellent introduction to the character. Superman Vs the Elite was ridiculous with it's preachy message. They should have had Superman vs heroes that kill villains like the Joker who constantly break out of jail, instead of criminals that kill. So many people told me to read Superman 775 to convince me why Superman was such a great hero, and it just upset me. This story has been done FAR better in Captain America: The Captain, Spider-man: The Death of Jeanne DeWolff, Knightfall, Uncanny X-Force, and various others. Just read an X-Men or Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle story, and it's brought up in almost every issue with Wolverine and Raphael, struggling not to kill. It just made Superman look like a childish psychopath. A similar thing happened to me when I was told to read Kingdom Come to show why he's so great. All it did was show me that Batman and Wonder Woman were so much better, and never gave up fighting.

Wonder Woman wins this because it had 1)Better director (2) Better story adaptation [no offense to Joe Kelly] (3)Better voice cast [sorry George Newbern] and (4) Production value.

interesting...when I first seen this I choose Wonder Woman without question, and thought the voting would show the same, but apparently The Elite was better received then I had thought.

I still found the animation and the story did not measure up to Wonder Woman in a head to head contest.

@i_dont_like_comics: I'll take an easy issue that is addressed and tackled throughout the film, so much so that the film is about that issue itself.....than a complex issue that is sidelined to make way for action scene after action scene?

Both are great, but Wonder Woman is second only to Under the Red Hood. Animation, voice acting, plot, and characterization were all perfect. DC should use Wonder Woman as a reference in planning their next movie.

Wonder Woman wins my vote. Superman vs the Elite was a decent movie until about halfway through when the writers decided to "cheat" on the moral of the story. People had a legitimate reason to be against Superman's method of heroism but they completely forgot those reasons at the end because he's Superman. I don't think Superman made a good case for himself at all.

Wonder Woman, on the other hand, knew how to get things done.
