I'm conflicted. The Earth king was a good climatic episode and gave Toph, Aang and Katara some nice feats. On the other hand the fodder were pathetic and Katara was oneshotting multiple soldiers at a time with a water whip....
I think Earth King takes it. Ending scene with Azula secures my vote.
Earth King had some awesome action but Southern Air Temple did more to expand the characters.
Southern Air Temple takes my vote.
Really good episode.
Hard choice. Earth King has a lot of great moments but I kind of hated the invasion scene despite how cool it was. I have a strong disdain for overpowered child protagonists, and while Avatar has them they mostly subvert it by having old masters who are beyond the child prodigies. But in this sequence a group of children basically solo the Earth Kingdom's elite royal guard without breaking a sweat.
It's kind of ridiculous how pathetic the trained soldiers of ATLA were. What kind of military is so woefully incompetent that a bunch of orphans (Jet's group) can ambush and defeat their squads repeatedly and make them look like fools?
So Southern Air Temple for me, if only because we got our fist look at the Airbenders at their peak and were introduced to Monk Gyatso, as well as his ultimate fate.
@metaljimmor: lol Fair points.

@anthp2000: leaves from the vine obviously solos
Tale of Ba Sing Se for the Iroh song, Zuko's date, and Sokka's Haiku rap skills.
You people are crazy.
Kyoshi slaughter stomps Irohs sonng.
Hahaha. This came out right.
- Omg i cant choose....Their both in my top ten favortie episodes...
- But Tales of Ba Sing Se was so emotionally charming,simplistic and seeing Avatar told as a simple anthology tale was a nice change of pace from the war epic theme that persisted throughout the show.
- So my vote goes to Tales of Ba Sing Se.

Wan Shi Tong was creepy.
Exactly.
My vote goes to The Library.
The Library..Mainly because of Wan Shi Tong.
Wan Shi Tong was creepy.
- He was the spirit worlds main keeper of knowledge...Being creepy and ominous was just part of his charm..lol
- And ive always had a likening for dark commanding,creepy wraith like spiritual characters...Wan Shi Tong kinda reminds me of the Angel of Death from Hellboy II: The Golden Army.

- My vote goes to the Cave of Two Lovers..
- It was folksy, funny,epic, enchanting and spooky all in the same breath.
@jucaslucasa: LOL I agree.
Cave of Two Lovers. I loved those dancing hippies and Sokka's perpetual suffering while with them. I made an OC similar to the lead hippie for an Avatar roleplay once, only he was a Swampbender with a banjo. Good times.
Plus badgermoles. And Aang's utter failure at being smooth. And Zuko and Iroh's little adventure with those berries. Iroh was a delight, and this is the story I really started to love him.
