Avengers Vs. X-Men - Act Two: NO MORE AVENGERS!

i hate this event but im still hoping xmen come out victorious

Now its the avengers the people who used to be considered there friends.. came to there house demanding to take control of the situation. the mutants say no.. & what happens? they get attacked beatin down & now there island is under control of shield.

I love the avengers too but they have zero right to do this considering they werent even there for half the stuff the x men & mutant kind has been through. the whole dark Phoenix jean grey incident.. avengers? No where to be found

That time when magneto captured professor x strung him up & almost lead the mutate nation of geniosha to a world war.. avengers? no where to be found

when have the avengers took proactive action against the purifiers? or the sentential? where were they during operation zero tolerance? no where to be found... & now they want to jump in & help? lol come on man & Wolverine.. thats anothers story all together...

I think this is where Wanda will fit into the story. Cyclops is going to try to get her to say "No more Avengers," just as she said "No more mutants." I don't know if she will or not. But it's obviously going to be a big plot point.

Sry, but this just seems to be getting sillier by the issue. One team seems to think the entire world is out to get them because they have a tini-tiny chance of getting back to strength while the other team is more or less giving them every excuse they need to continue with that line of thought.

Issue 2 was an abomination but I'm hoping they, you know, get some talented people on this. I'm rooting for the X-Men! I don't know though, issue 2 was really, really bad. The artwork.../shudder

I got to deal with Romita for another two issues? Argh!

First: Operation Zero Tolerance happened right after Onslaught, when most of the Avengers were"dead". They couldn't do much about that.

Second: The Avengers want to protect the world, not just a select few. Scott Summers at this point only ares about the resurrection of the mutant race no matter what the cost is. He only sees the rebirth aspect of the Phoenix, not the destructive. In the past few years Cyclops became more and more obsessive about the survival of the mutants (which I can't blame him for given the situation of the mutant race), but it also clouded his judgement. Right now he's more like the weird guy who stockpiles weapons and rations in his cabin in the woods. He's supposed to be a leader and a master tactician, who's able to see the different angles in any given situation. But right now he behaves like a maniac risking the whole planet on a gamble that Hope might be able to control the Phoenix. It's like he forgot what the Phoenix did to Jean. So yeah, Cyclops deserves to be brought down hard.

Wanda "enters the fray" as solicitations say in June which makes me wonder....

The Phoenix has a preference for telepaths and the Scarlet Witch's huge "House of M" spell (which the title obviously references) worked so effectively because Wanda manipulated the telepathic link Charles Xavier established to subdue her. So there's a possibility the Phoenix could use Wanda's powers to defeat the Avengers using the reverse method. AHA!

But Marvel, please don't you dare kill the Scarlet Witch goddammit!

If they get rid of the avengers, they'll just bring them back, because that's what happens in comics. If you kill off a character they just get resurrected shortly later.

couldn't the avengers resign there members status which will result in the avengers being safe

Yes I like them equally. Unlike a lot of people on this site (not suggesting you) just because I like a character doesn't mean I have to agree with them all the time or agree with them 100% when I do. As far as the making sense. No I don't agree because I simply found the bases of their arguments flawed for several reason. I have argued the AvX thing to death and not really interested in rehashing it again.

Fair enough, but could I just ask why you thought the bases of their arguments were flawed here? Especially Rachel and Iceman and the likes, we haven't heard anything from them before regarding the whole AvX thing? And I'm not looking to argue anything out, just what you thought :)

Hickman and Coipel, can't go wrong there! I wouldn't write this off as disaster for the Avengers just yet though. Could mean a lot of things, really.

See? It's nonsense like this that made me forgo getting involved in this preposterous AVX event in the first place. Why is it anytime a new character or series gets a movie, they turn it into an excuse to kill that character or team? Shock value is no reason to be involved in any kind of media, especially those with theoretically long running repercussions like comics.

I'm sure the Avengers will already be back in some "shocking" new form by the end of AVX's 12 issue run, and I don't know if that pisses me off more or less to know whatever this is they are teasing will have no staying power. Thor and Bucky didn't even stay dead for a whole month after they died (each for a second time during Fear Itself. There is no way Marvel would not trim its number of ongoing avengers books from 5 down to 0.

I really enjoyed Avengers Diasembled, all of 7 or 8 years ago, and I thought the House of M really nicely changed the status quo for the X-Men, hell even the Onslaught/Avengers Reborn storyline was cute in it's own way, but in 2012, this idea is just stale. AVX has put Marvel back in the top 10 charts, which I guess is good for them, but from my point of view, Marvel series I read are at an all time low for the very first time in my 10 years of collecting, my DC comics monthly series list eclipses that Marvel.

I bet the X-Men will be there for the Avengers when this goes down, unlike the Avengers when Scarlet Witch said "No more mutants" Pay back is a bitch. I just hope this doesn't go into 6 issues of a "House of M" storyline where things are all flipped around. Get this done with and move the Avengers on to the "Ultron War" already.

@hunterscarlet: REALLY? For what reason would a major comic book company even CONSIDER rebooting their franchise? Maybe to raise some sales numbers on some of their badly written books?? Next thing you know, you'll be saying that a major company like Marvel will reboot their flagship universe except for thier 2 biggest titles. Those titles will basically still say the same with a couple minor minor tweaks that are pretty much un-noticable except for maybe a change in their costumes. I mean Marvel doesn't need to do that when they have their Ultimate line running along side with it. What kind of MAJOR comic book company would reduce themselves to this??? It's obsured. Why piss off the fanbase?

The "No More Avengers" tagline does sound awfully similiar to the Disassemble's "No More Mutants". Wanda's probably making her return and will join the X-Men. After all she is looking to make amends for bringing mutantkind to the brink of extinction and that what the X-Men are exactly looking.

I'm starting to learn not to judge a book by it's cover, issue's covers and the promos never match what going on in the book.

With the exception of Ultimate Spider-Man (mostly just Ultimate Peter Parker) everything about the Ultimate Universe sucks, easily one of the top five worst things Marvel has ever done
