Needs more style
Young Avengers is a team I'm completely unfamiliar with, keep that in mind.
The Good:
As the title of the issue suggest this comic has some great style going for it and when it really tries to just go all out with that I really enjoyed it. The art is pretty good and I didn't really have any gripes at all in that department. Fans of Hulkling and Wiccan should be happy to see them getting the most screen time, which I agree is the right choice for the first issue given they're the main members of the team to be brought back. The issue does a nice job of brick laying and the main conflict for the next issues is quickly set up for the most part. Oh and I really liked the Spider-Man cameo, I think it was a nice little touch.
The Bad:
This comic didn't really feel too new reader friendly to me, a lot of the members of the team felt sort of ignored, especially Ms America who despite getting a good amount of screen time was completely unexplained. I get that old members were the draw, but Kate also seems to get pushed to the side for the most part. I also I'm honestly sick and tired of team books that don't really feel very much like the characters are a team which is the case here. I get that you don't have to bring the team together in the first issue, but starting with pointless infighting doesn't make for a good read for me.
Overall:
Still a nice issue, I'd recommend it if you're a fan of the team you should certainly check it out. If you're looking for a book that's got a good sense of style then this one is at least worth keeping an eye on. Really there's some potential here, but don't get expect to get blown away by this issue.
