For years, the Vertigo comic Y: THE LAST MAN has gone through the ringer trying to find its way to the big and small screen. It looks like all of that has changed. According to THR, FX is currently developing the comic series for television.
The series is in development and Brian K Vaughan, the writer of the 60-issue Vertigo series, will be developing the script for television with another writer. FX is currently searching for a second writer. No director has been revealed yet either.
The story of Y: THE LAST MAN follows Yorick Brown and his monkey Ampersand, the last two males on the planet, after a virus wipes out anything with a Y chromosome. Brown and his monkey head out on an adventure in this new world, to try and find Brown's fiancee, but the world throws curveball after curveball at him.
The series ran for 60 issues and was created by Brian K Vaughan and Pia Guerra. It is considered one of the top series for its time. Currently, FX also offers The Strain, which is a comic from Dark Horse, as well as a book series. However, this is the first Vertigo series to possibly head to the channel. We'll keep you updated as more develops.
