The 5-part "Ring of Truth" reaches its shocking conclusion! Just when Dr. Mann finally discovers the answer to how Yorick and Ampersand survived the mysterious plague, an unforeseen adversary swoops in and steals a major key to the possible cure. But could the thief be working for someone close to the trio?

The book opens with Agent 355 preparing to go after the ninja using the same tracking device Hero was using to follow Ampersand. Before she could leave they find out Yorrick has already gone out. 355 catches up to him, but he refuses to go back to the lab. After hearing Ampersands screaming 355 and Yorrick meet the ninja on the San Fransisco Bridge, where a fight breaks out between 355 and the ninja. Unfortunately for our hero, things do not go so well, but Hero shows up in the nick of time with a rather large gun and saves the day. Later back at the lab, and after a nights rest, Dr. Mann has decided to go looking for Ampersand, and Hero is going to go home, but first stop off in Kansas to deliver some of Ampersands feces, to the geneticists. The next day our three heroes are on the road again, or at least at the docks, where they find out the ninja girl had charted a boat to the same city Dr. Manns family is from.
