Scott’s abandonment of Madelyne is not the last time he betrays a lover. Although he is finally able to reunite with his first love, he struggles to stay loyal. When he has the opportunity to cheat on Jean with Emma Frost, he takes it. To make the blatant betrayal of trust even worse, Scott either knew that Jean would find out (since she’s a telepath) or he was too stupid to realize she would. Once again, Scott Summers betrays the woman he loves to get with yet another telepathic mutant.
Scott’s disloyalty to his lovers stems from his traumatic origin. The events of his childhood most likely left him with some post-traumatic stress as well as survivor’s guilt. Symptoms of avoidance are a prevalent side-effect of PTSD. Although he fell in love with Madelyne Pryor and even had a child with her, his PTSD of losing his loved ones led him to seek an escape. Furthermore, these feelings of avoidance often lead to the victim seeking out high-risk sexual encounters, such as cheating. In Scott’s case, there is no higher risk than to cheat on a telepath.

I just want to say this because I think it cause for a good discussion. Throughout the years many members of the X-Men have been mentioned to have potential hidden within. Now recently I think we are NOW seeing those mutants come into that role.
I think the most most powerful group of mutants are:
Jean: She is now able to transcend her body into living Psionic Energy.
Storm: Storm is now an actual Goddess with power that is still being fleshed out.
Rogue: No longer needs to touch you to absorb your powers. But from a Distance.
Iceman: Not only is his body made of living ice and can survive without one. He can move his consciousness across any body of water.
These 4 to me seems to be as of right now sit at the top of Marvel’s most powerful mutants a live. Am I missing anyone else??? What do you guys think???

@hawk2916: I don't blame you. I have not purchased a Comic in 7 years. The ONLY reason i'm up to date is because I read them off a Website LOL. Yeah, I cheat to read comics. But if this Hickman run is Everything People seem to make it be "The Best Thing for the X-Men"..........*Sigh* I guess i'll purchase it.

@lowmagekage: Honestly, Hickman does have a good reputation his FF and Avengers Run. Now I agree with you I don't buy the Hickman Hype either. I'm skeptical that he KNOWS how to write the X-Men and my favorite Mutants.
I am looking forward to Hickman's run but I also hope he doesn't do anything to mess with or change Wolverine because he is my all time favorite character. I always get worried when stuff like "The X-Men will never be the same again" starts getting thrown around. I hope he doesn't go overboard and do anything crazy.
@ursaber: Jean sees a lot of Cable in Hope and sees her as family. She acts very much like a parent to Hope by comforting words, lecturing Hope when Hope is wrong, and even hugging Hope. Jean prefers for Hope to stick close by to her and the X-Men seemingly.

Yeah...I get your point they do overhype stuff often. Hickman isn't all talk tho so I hope he doesn't do anything too out there is what I really meant.

That being said, we are officially entering the Age of Hickman! I'm so sad i'll be away for the next month+ so I probably won't be able to frequent the boards and read + partake in the discussions, but i'm so excited to read the books!
yes you're happy, i'm happy. The writers/editors have already stated (JWD and Rosenberg I believe) that Jean and Scott love each other the most compared to their other relationships, and they've made it clear on panel here, so you got what you wanted, now let's move on and just be happy about it and not rub it in everyone's face over and over for the next however long ok?
Now as for their relationship, I'd actually rather they aren't just made to be a couple already in HOX/POX, or at least not already back to their fully functioning established couple way. I hope they can work things out, address the issues they had and their growths as characters, that way they can be together properly and in a good relationship, not the disaster it was towards the end. They also both don't need to be (and shouldnt be) defined by their relationship and significant other
