New Mutants might be released in theaters, but Dark Phoenix will keep getting pushed back and pushed back until the merger goes through and it goes streaming only.

No way is Disney going to let Fox screw up The Dark Phoenix Saga twice before they can get their hands on it. The potential for a mega crossover between the Marvel cinematic properties is too valuable to allow Fox to damage the story's reputation again.

Sigh.

Given that trailer, I'm actually OK with this. This whole "Dark Phoenix as chapter 2 of Jean's origin story" vibe has really put me off this one.

@ashetdust: We have no idea how the film is going be, especially with the reshoots.

Massive reshoots were not really good.

They really jumped the gun with that trailer. In fact, I’m quite sure they only released the trailer was because of the Russian leaks.

Then why put feb 14 as release date in the trailer?

@DevilMayehm666: That is the thing though, even if it’s a great film Disney still won’t want Fox to release yet another remake of The Dark Phoenix Saga especially when Disney is about to gain control of that IP.

It effectively lowers the value of the X-Men because no one will want to see a third remake of Dark Phoenix even if it’s made by Disney.

For example, they had already done Spiderman’s origin story twice. When Disney got a hold of him they had to skip it because it was already well known, so instead we got Homecoming.

Losing out on doing their version of DP would potentially cost Disney several hundred million dollars.

It’s all about money, not the quality of the film.

The xmen have a bunch of stories and is more comic accurate so they may not care or even want to do another Phoenix story

I'm pretty sure this Dark Phoenix will not be flying but will just be floating in the whole movie.

But did she have a costume or phoenix effect behind her?

Everyone hating on the original Dark Phoenix (X-Men 3) movie is dumb. The movie wasn't bad at all. You all just wanted a billion dollar CGI movie while the average person just wants a movie. Same thing with Spiderman 3 imo, you all overreacted and we lost the best Spiderman.
